His fight for Brett Kavanaugh completed his transformation into Donald Trumps slobbering manservant.

The battle over Brett Kavanaughs nomination to the Supreme Court was an especially ugly episode of a reality-show presidency that degrades almost everyone swept up in it, and many characters stagger away from it looking worse than ever.
Thats Senator Lindsey Graham you see at the head of the pack. Thats Graham you hear talking and talking and talking some more, in committee rooms and on stages and before the television cameras that he rushes to the way a toddler chases soap bubbles. His words are whichever ones guarantee a major role and a powerful patron, which means that these days he sounds like a more articulate echo of his golfing buddy: Donald Trump.
That wouldnt, by itself, be cause to dwell on him. Washington is lousy with lackeys, and not even the maddest of kings thins their ranks. But Graham is special. He really is. I cant think of another Republican whose journey from anti-Trump outrage to pro-Trump obsequiousness was quite so illogical or half as sad, and his conduct during the war over Kavanaugh completed it. For the president he fought overtime, he fought nasty and he fought without nuance.
In so doing, he distilled our rotten politics its transactional nature, its tribal fury, its hysterical pitch as neatly as anybody in the current Congress does.
Has a diva at La Scala ever delivered an aria as overwrought as the one that Graham performed on the day when both Christine Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee? I doubt it.
Boy, you all want power, Graham, who serves on the committee, railed at his Democratic colleagues, accusing them of ginning up accusations against Kavanaugh. God, I hope you never get it. Because Graham and his fellow Republicans exercise it so much more responsibly? Because theyre so principled themselves? I guess thats why they minimize Russian interference in our elections; indulge Trumps bromances with Vladimir Putin, Rodrigo Duterte and Kim Jong-un; and smile upon his mendacity, misogyny, racism and unchecked greed. Theyre modeling integrity in government.

(2,484 posts)His outburst in the BK hearing did far more than rally the R-wing troops to vote for confirmation. It even goes beyond Roe, unfortunately.
My point is that it seems all is forgiven by the born-agains, as long as the ends (stacked SCOTUS) justify the means (supporting the grabber and frat boy).

(5,914 posts)This goes way, WAY beyond the "secretly gay and doesn't want his Republican constituency to know it". The Republicans happily forgive everything that one of their own does. The evangelicals have zero problems with the Orange Molester or Judge Kavadrunk.
This has got to be something caught on Russian video that is so depraved and awful, ANYONE would be aghast.

(7,529 posts)WASHINGTON Brett Kavanugh is the "slut whore drunk" of the story in his Supreme Court nomination, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said moments after the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh.
Asked whether sexual assault survivors would be more reluctant to come forward because Kavanaugh was confirmed despite allegations by Christine Blasey Ford, Graham said he did not believe so because Ford was "treated well" by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
"I think the roles were reversed: The slut whore drunk was Kavanaugh," he said.
They are drinking the kool-aid.

(17,984 posts)John McCain would be ashamed he ever called him,Little jerk. He is a huge one.
Started when he invited Jared and Ivanka to the McCain funeral, knowing full well the family did not want Trumps there.
It is clear someone has something on him. He is much too hysterical.

(9,865 posts)....quality of Graham I think comes from his need to glom onto and form himself around a powerful male personality. The policies of McCain meant nothing to him. It was McCain's strength of character that filled Graham.
Now that that's gone, Graham has transferred over. He's a sick, slobbering specimen who is very dangerous.

(9,426 posts)snarling like a rabid possum. t was a disgusting display, when he called the Democratic committee members "disgusting". He wants to take Sessions place after tRump fires him. THIS is what is behind the whole fiasco. He must know he will not be re-elected, so he wants a permanent "job" in DC.

Perfect description of Miss Lindsey and Numbnuts.
