Hometown paper drops a bomb on Devin Nunes and endorses opponent in scathing editorial

Hometown paper drops a bomb on Devin Nunes and endorses opponent in scathing editorial

The Bee had supported Nunes since 2002, but this year threw its support behind Andrew Janz, the Democrat “who offers the best chance to both lead the district by attending to its issues and then by striving for bipartisanship in Washington, D.C., which is the only answer to the poison of gridlock politics that is stifling debate and action at nearly all levels.”

The paper’s editorial board gives a long, detailed explanation of policies that drove it to support the moderate Janz.

It also cracked on Nunes for supporting arty orthodoxy even when it would hurt his district—for example with his votes to undermine Obamacare. “Nunes did this despite the fact that his district has more people relying on government-paid medical assistance than almost anywhere else in the nation,” The Bee writes.

The paper was especially hard on Nunes for refusing to hold town halls, dodging his constituents, and for his close ties to Trump.

There is more on the link, but fair warning- it is full of spam ads and numerous auto play videos all over the page--

I've hated this little weasel since the first day he popped his head out of the Orange Ones ASS!
Although a native of PA, I've lived and given birth in southern W.VA and east Kentucky. They're really are some truly sane and intelligent people who aren't showing behind up Trump in his stupid "rallies"

Nunes has lied for Trump, voted against his districts best interests, and has tried to stop Russian investigation since it started.

Nunes has been lying for years about the family farm, which they sold years ago and then bought another in Iowa I think (some midwestern state at least—nowhere near CA). That should hurt him too.

His family's farm in Iowa is using illegal immigrants to do the labor.

If they didn't have illegal immigrants to do the labor, the farm would fail. As would all the other farms in the area.

Also, his family is psycho stalkers who followed the reporter everywhere.

This isn't just some distant part of his family... he stays in almost daily contact with .. I think it was his brother... to keep up with the business.

In other words, Nunes is using illegal immigrant labor while supporting trump's disgusting anti-immigrant policies.

This part is a thorn on the rose: "striving for bipartisanship in Washington, D.C., which is the only answer to the poison of gridlock politics that is stifling debate and action at nearly all levels."

The poison is GOP. GOP stifles debate and action to get what they demand. They are not interested in what anyone else wants or even wants to say. Eight years of obstructing Obama and 2 years of highly destructive trumpism should have taught every newspaper that lesson. The Kavanawful nomination alone should be sufficient to drive a stake through 'bothsiderism' by the news media.

Bipartisanship works only when there are two parties which place people and country above party. Only one party does that at this time. Democrats are not the cause of gridlock politics.

without all the ads from rawstory

As a prosecutor, Janz knows firsthand the impacts of crime on victims. That is also why he has a willingness to help the little guy. For example, Janz wants every American to have access to quality health care. How to make that happen? Janz is open to all ideas, especially town-hall meetings in the district to hear what his constituents think. One thing he says is non-negotiable: Pre-existing conditions must be covered.
Nunes, by contrast, voted along party lines in approving the House version of the American Health Care Act of 2017. It would have shrunk Medicaid by 15 million enrollees nationwide by 2026. Medicaid is the government program that covers low-income children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities, aiding one in five Americans. In Nunes’ district, 313,000 people were enrolled in Medi-Cal as of January. Of those, 74,000 would have immediately lost coverage, and all would have had their coverage impacted through loss of benefits or access to doctors. (Medi-Cal is California’s version of Medicaid).

to an off shore money laundry? Is Devin Nunes laundering Trump money? The people of his district should ask him at a Town Hall meeting. Oh, never mind, he won't face his constituents in person. A thief by any other name....
