(945 posts)For some reason, the well-manicured yard is so soothing. I've spent five minutes looking at this pic.

(7,142 posts)I'm hoping Pa. that's where I am. The only thing he needs to do is cut down that bug infested pine tree. I just cut down 2 huge ones, no more pine needles in the gutters.

(31,261 posts)Maybe just have it sprayed and put out slow release fertilizer. Nice home, well laid out yard.
Pines are pretty important to the ecosystem, btw.

(409 posts)also lives next door to me. A little while after the votes for Kavanaugh were confirmed yesterday she came over unexpectedly. She sat down at my kitchen table and the very first words out of her mouth were: "Well, they voted him in. I guess I'm not a Republican anymore."
I was absolutely blown away. I almost didn't even know what to say. I know we've had a few conversations about the allegations against Kavanaugh, but she never really indicated to me that this was a deal breaker for her or that she had been having these thoughts. Prior to her coming over I wasn't even fully sure if she even believed the allegations to be honest.
It turns out that she felt the limited FBI investigation was a sham and that the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee were more trying to cover up his crimes than to actually find out if they occurred. I mean to me this had been obvious, but I had no inclination that she also felt that way. Nothing else the Republicans or Trump had done up until this point has been a deal breaker for her, so I guess I just assumed this wouldn't be any different. I was wrong.

(7,142 posts)Kavanaugh is a monster. He is much much more than anti-woman.
His wife's expressionless face during his opening rant was so telling.

(35,675 posts)her face had a pained expression, like what she was watching hurt. Something about it didn't make me think she was feeling his pain, either. Maybe after years of living with someone like that, one doesn't feel empathy and simply goes straight to damn can we get this over with?
I saw that too. It was most telling, a look that knows what he really is, an abuser. Know it, because I to have had that look also.
