Good God it is difficult to maintain "civility" and not break forum rules.

(2,064 posts)I don't see any rational reason to be pissed at Joe.
If we could have stopped the nomination and he voted with the pugs, that would have pissed me off, but that wasn't the case. Once Flake flaked out and Collins took off her moderate mask and voted Yes, it was over.
Joe couldn't stop the nomination with a no vote and and he's up for reelection in a state the OrangeTurd is popular. He made a political calculation.
We need him to keep his seat if we are to have any chance of flipping the senate.
Regarding mansplaining, anybody pissed off with Manchin right now is being irrational, it isn't gender specific. It certainly wasn't personal to you. I've made the same argument using pretty much the same language several times since the vote.

(8,311 posts)... voting No and then withdrawing her vote.
He was in a position to force her to do exactly that to get the nomination through, and show that her and Collins both really don't care about sexual assault victims even if they pretended to through all of this. I don't know if Pence could have broken a tie created by a Murkowski "present" on roll call, if that's allowed by Senate rules. But it would have forced it to be a total Republican call.
Yes, it might have seemed like dirty pool, but then again they could have waited for the cloture vote until Monday. Saying he was a yes and letting dude go to the wedding after all yes, may have seemed mean, and made Murkowski do exactly that out of alleged "congeniality" to combat it.
But it would have been something. Taking a stand. Courage of convictions. Which seem to be lacking so often.
Ultimately it's up to the voters of WV if they'll send him back, and I am honestly not sure whether demotivating a person's base is the best strategy to keep a shaky Dem seat in a red state. I'd hold my nose to vote for him if I lived in WV over a Republican in the hopes of getting a Senate majority, but there is always turnout to consider. How many women will feel betrayed vs Republicans content to stay home?
