If they are a troll, ridicule or silence, or MIRT. Preferably MIRT, but sometimes they're careful.

I saw a profile earlier today associated with an extremely dramatic "I'm leaving" message. I did not recognize the name, but as big as this place is now that doesn't surprise me. Took a quick look at the profile to see a join up date of 2001 with something like 4 or 5 thousand posts. I've been here since 2001, don't post here every day, but even I have a higher total than that. I'll admit, I come here for the news and for the Sunday funnies Salmonchanted Evening puts up, but even so, there are people here who know who I am. I'm not exactly beaming in from outta nowhere.

Seems like lately a healthy dose of curiosity is a good thing.

But use your old, previously recognized email address, the system presents your original sign-up date in your profile, but does not retain your post count.

I did this after I could not, for the life of me, remember my username after an ~ 3 year hiatus.

The 2016 primaries were rough on a lot of long time members and many of them stopped posting. We aren't always nice to each other and some ugly things were said.

Even so, we still share common beliefs and goals. Its time to bury the hatchet, let bygones be bygones and work together to defeat our common enemy.

The ones that absorb color released into the suds. As much as I hate to admit it and as much as I love purple - they work to keep the colors apart.

I went away for some time. I don't think anybody noticed when I left. Only one old pal noticed my return. It felt good slipping back in fairly seamlessly.

I guess I'm not sure why you feel the need to say anything so I'll go back and read this thread. But I wouldn't be concerned unless they post something that troubles you. Then it's business as usual.

I would hope they are welcomed. It is strange to automatically investigate a member's profile sans smoke. It suggests an attempt to discredit their opinion rather than countering it, AKA intellectual laziness.

I don't know if an '07 birthday makes me an old-timer, but as my first post in over 1.5 years, I'd like to thank the many DUers who have provided quality content for me to lurk, learn, and absorb during this time of existential crisis.
