debacle has you sinking in spite of your medication, don't give up.
After my husband died and I just kept crying for weeks my doctor increased my Cymbalta dosage by 50%. It really helped.
Then, last year, after dong fine, with just the ups and downs you expect from life, I was at the eye doctor and just burst into tears.
I wasn't talking to anyone, it just came upon me.
Now this was during the time that Mexican children were being crushed in an earthquake, and devastating hurricanes were demolishing places that could least afford it.
Then Donald Trump decided to pick a fight with black athletes, which had the whole country picking sides, so I was pretty discouraged.
Since I'd never had an episode like this, I called my psychiatrist from the eye doctor's. I knew something was really wrong.
He called me back that evening and right away upped my dosage of Cymbalta back to where it was after my husband's death.
I started coping much better, and am often the only one in a group who can maintain perspective on this shitty political mess we're in.
So, if you are in a bad way, see if your doc will increase you dosage for now
And if you are fighting depression but don't know it, get some help.
BTW, my first symptom is waking up too early in the morning with apocalyptic thoughts on a repeating loop. If you can't get regular sleep, you could well develop a depression.
Everybody, please take care of yourselves.

What gets to me about trump being in the White House is the low numbers in states in the Midwest that gave him the electoral college win.
I am convinced every anti Hillary ad or post helped put trump in office. I will never get over the primary and being knocked off DU for months as long as I live. No amount of meds increase can get me over that.

(9,199 posts)What I noticed about Cymbalta was that I began whistling and even singing as I went about my chores - something I hadn't done in years.
But you are right, one should always pay attention to any undesirable changes. There are a number of different antidepressants these days, and maybe one of them can help those who are finding it hard to cope.
