Question DUers...(I have many today thank you)

Now that Trump has packed the Supreme Court with his picks, IS it possible that After Four Years, Trump may not STEP DOWN? He Joked with Xi Jinping of china that he wouldn't mind being President for Life. If the Supreme Court and the Republicans in power allow him to continue will he do what he wants?

This maybe a silly poll, but it scares the hell out of me, of whats ahead.

he can run again and I suspect his ego will demand it.

Beyond that, it would require a constitutional change. Not going to happen.

Changing the constitution not only requires 2/3 majority votes in both houses but also separate ratification by 2/3 of the states.

but I strongly believe that the american people would rise up in massive civil disobedience, forcing the Congress to remove him either by impeachment or by force.

It would be very ugly.

My brother is a die hard pub, but even that would be a bridge to far for him, as I suspect it would be for a huge majority of citizens.

but those who want it are patient and keep lining up states.

We’re surprisingly close to our first constitutional convention since 1787. Bad idea.

George Washington presides over the Constitutional Convention in 1787, in a hand-colored engraving of a 19th-century illustration. (North Wind Picture Archives via Associated Press)
By Editorial Board April 6, 2017
THE LAST time the United States held a constitutional convention was in 1787. That one turned out pretty well. The next one could have far more doleful results. And the nation is much closer to convening such a convention than many people realize.

It would take the votes of 34 state legislatures to call a constitutional convention to order. A majority of legislatures already have voted to do so. Such calls remain valid indefinitely — until 34 states have joined in a particular cause or the states rescind their appeals. Therefore we congratulate Maryland’s House of Delegates, which on Tuesday rescinded its call for a federal constitutional convention decades after approving it. Same to Nevada’s Senate, which voted, also Tuesday, to rescind a resolution in that state. But a number of states have recently passed or are close to passing measures calling for a convention.

and if they do hold a convention, what kind of odds do you give that the ERA will be included?

The convention, if it happens, could offer up a few amendments, or it could rewrite the whole thing from scratch.

when prisoner, worker, and immigrant rights get thrown in there, along with poverty, education, parental rights and other stuff it gets really confusing.

Single issue advocacy has its advantages, but can cloud other issues and get people to walk away.

Never forget the guy who yelled "Keep the government away from my Medicare."

(I was in the local VA this week listening to a guy ranting about how the government screws everything up. I had no interest in asking him about the VA or the military that got him into the VA in the first place)
