Change is coming, just ask a young person

Young people are watching and they know what they want and they know what we are and are not doing.
My opinion?
I think the after-action report from the 8 years of President Obama trying to reach out to conservatives is incontrovertible: they spit in his face repeatedly and he gained nothing but more hate and vitriol for his honest attempt to find common ground.

There is no common ground with republicans. The last 10 years should have made that crystal clear.

WE CAN EITHER HELP THESE YOUNG PEOPLE OR GET OUT OF THEIR WAY BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE CHANGE IS COMING.
What side of that change you are on is in your hands.

saying to the kids, "I vote. I vote ALL THE TIME! Don't you think you better vote too?

I'd like to do one with some crochety guy in a MAGA hat-- "Hey, kid! Vote and cancel out my vote!"

I don't get it-- none of them like or respect him. And I'm sure they're appalled by Trump's fans. But we need only look at Lindsey Graham to see how eagerly they've surrendered to him. Graham is acting like a nasty little weasel-- yelling, contorting his face, poking his finger at us. This is really not like the way he used to be, but he's doing that to be like Trump.

Now if we can just get the MSM to stop credulously going to diners in rural America and asking imploringly to know what they want, what they need, what they get from Trump. They are incomprehensible know-nothings ("He said he'd bring back coal!&quot , and they don't know what they want really. And the GOP is just using them through Trump.

I heard Max Boot (old conservative) say the only remedy is for the GOP to die, and the way to do that is everyone (even him) vote Democrat.

that's the only thing that will save our democracy.
And the fact that that is the case....is pretty fucking sad.

Yes they had an IPad before they were potty-trained, and the smartphone to them was what jingling keys were to us.

Kids that are just turning 18 came of age during the Recession. They are a lot more like Gen X or the Greatest Generation if one had to compare, but they are their own brand. They don't expect life to just roll their way, not automatically. Not at all.

They are more open than any other generation in history. They are so woke it's breathtaking. That is the "good" side of being raised by social media. They have conquered a lot of the inherent biases we are still struggling with.

They aren't motivated by money, but they can't imagine life without Wi-fi.

They are anti-authoritarian.

They are competitive and are worried about becoming educated in a field that then becomes automated.

They don't think they will be able to have children of their own, due to climate change, etc.

They take NOTHING for granted. This is particularly true for non-white young people. They are old before their time.

They will vote.
