The supposed logic is that there were stronger allegations against him but he brought forth a comparatively weak one and that made it look like the whole thing was a frame job.
Hillary is laughing hard somewhere. If one weak, unproven allegation made all the other allegations go away, she'd be president for life.
Kavanaugh is getting confirmed because he was always going to get confirmed. He was so crazy bad that we somehow had a small glimmer of hope, but republicans have a majority in the senate and don't care about what the majority in the country thinks.

(7,142 posts)All one has to do is pay attention to the same thing being repeated across cable news and one can find the right wing narrative.
Avenatti is one of the rare Democrats who can change the narrative, who can fight Trump blow for blow in the gutter. There is a concerted effort to smear Avenatti, especially since he talked about running for president.
Go get em Michael, they are afraid of you.

(4,066 posts)The right-wing wants us to throw him under the bus the way we did Al Franken. Then they don't have to worry about him anymore. They're just trying to manipulate us again.

I will vote for Avenatti in the primary, if he loses I will vote for the Democratic winner.

If your unable to disengage limit your comments only to defense of all of our fighters.
We need gutter punchers, high minded idealists, purists
We need them all
Today is not the day to fight amongst ourselves
We need a united front
We must embrace our collective strength and disregard our differences
We can fight among ourselves later
This is not the time or the place
We must indeed all hang together or most assuredly we will all hang separately

(7,142 posts)bashing Avenatti is a top 3 right wing narrative. The reich is afraid of him, they have a full blown negative, Swift Boat campaign launched against him.
I'm happy as hell he is on our side. He has my vote, he is not perfect, but he walks the walk.

The parties deserving blame for Kavanaugh's confirmation are the Senators who voted to confirm, the POTUS who nominated him, and everyone who voted for them.

(13,305 posts)...how have been insisting for decades now that if we just play nice and be "civil" and "reach out" and don't be shrill that it will start paying dividends by bringing all of those mythical unicorns known as "undecided moderates" over to our side.
Any day now that's going to happen. After all, mealy mouthed, middle of the road moderation can never fail, it can only be failed by shrill folks or dirty hippies.

(409 posts)it if we start blaming him.
I still don't understand why Swetnick's claims were just automatically dismissed by so many to begin with. We know from Ford's assault that he doesn't mind assaulting in a team with at least one of his friends. Mark Judge's ex-girlfriend of 3 years said Mark told her flat out that he participated in running a train on at least one inebriated girl during his school days. So why does it seem so outrageous for Swetnick to have seen that and been a victim of it herself? She claims to have reported it to the police. NBC said the police officer who she said took her report has since passed away, but they verified that he did work there at that time and NBC said they were currently working on trying to obtain the police record, which they were told could take up to a month.
I think she should have been taken just as seriously as any of the other accusers. If what she alleges actually happened, then what she suffered was unimaginable and to then come forward and not even be believed by many of the same people actively supporting Dr. Ford and Debbie Ramirez, I just couldn't imagine going through that.

Just because Republicans are saying that Democrats are blaming Avenatti doesn't mean that is true. I don't see any Democrats here blaming Avenatti, do you?

(7,403 posts)He even presented corroborating evidence. The FBI didn't speak to any of them.
The problem was that the story was so horrendous that nobody wanted to believe it.
Then there were the dozen or so lies he told on top of that but Collins decided he was a moderate in her own mold. So now we have a serial liar and sexual predator on the bench.
