indicating how many Manchin supporters do not support nominating the Kav? I don't think I've read a post from any DU members living in WV.

He is not the enemy, the GOP is.
It is not unknown for Dem leadership to allow Dems to vote against the majority Dem position if their vote will not be the deciding vote and if they were to vote with the Dem majority it could cost them the election. Could have happened here.
