A public figure cannot prevail in a defamation claim without proof that the speaker acted with actual malice, meaning they made the allegedly defamatory statement knowing it was false, or with reckless disregard for the truth.

So, bring it on - but unless they want to pay her attorneys' fees they'd better have their own lawyer have another look at Rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure first. Of course K knows all this stuff and regardless of what else we might think of him he's clearly smart enough to know not to sue Dr. Ford.
