The triumph of the "Southern Strategy"

The "Southern Strategy" was a political plan that came about in 1968 when the Richard Nixon campaign decided that regional biases and hatreds were the way to win a presidential campaign.

Turns out they were right. Nixon carried the South and enough of the Country's racist vote to become president.

And once the Republican Party grasped that the "Southern Strategy" was their pathway to power, they embraced it. And they're still using it today.

Here's the Republican Party formula for winning elections: Resentment, bigotry, jealousy, petulance, and outright hatred.

The reality is they have nothing else to sell. These are their products. This is who they are. This is what they are.

And is seems they've found just enough voters to drink their snake oil, keep them in power, and allow them to fuck America, perhaps beyond repair.

Nixon's "Southern Strategy" unleashed an evil upon America. And it's one that we may have to struggle against throughout this century.

Went to a meet and greet with Hubert Humphrey in St Paul Minnesota in the Sixlateties. Every item you mention was voiced as a concern by Hubert.
