Why losing the Kavanaugh battle dangerous for Midterm 2018

Losing the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation battle is more dangerous than just the loss of the Supreme Court. We are at a tipping point and have no room for errors. We must be very careful between now and Midterm 2018 and here is why.

I was concerned from the beginning about the fight we were having over Brett Kavanaugh. I wrote the piece "Stop with the false hope. Supreme Court lost for a generation lest we …" in July 2018 making the point that it was false hope. I wrote the following.

https://egbertowillies.com/2018/10/06/midterm-2018-kavanaugh/

UPDATE: Guys, please understand what I am trying to say. This is not meant to be depressing. We have a tendency to look at this thing as won because it is should be. I am on the ground with a ton of first timers that think they make a difference. The energy spent on Kavanaugh this close to the election and losing when it is clear most Americans don't want him has deflated many. Pointing that out and more is very important in groups like ours with experienced activists. I remind myself and others we must redouble our efforts more so now after this loss. We cannot fight human nature but work with it. We can't think we are coasting to a Blue Wave. Hate me for saying this but I will to those willing to listen.

I am on the ground. Many of these new "activists" and engaged Americans never did this before nor do they understand the political nuances like most of us here do.

I know this Kavanaugh battle is depressing. But good grief, people get a grip. All I keep seeing and reading is how the enthusiasm gap is closed, the election is rigged for the Repubs, and on and on.

It's counter productive to tell notoriously apathetic voters that going out to vote probably won't matter.

We came up short because . . .

we're still the Minority.

The way to fix that? We VOTE in overwhelming numbers on November 6th. We VOTE straight Democratic, everywhere, everyone.

We do that? We win. Because it's always been about the MATH, how many seats we fill with Democrats across the board.

Anything less? The Kavanaugh loss will be one in a flood of losses for ourselves and the entire country.
