Our nightmare has come true
1. A madman in the Oval Office
2. A Senate and House run by sewer scrapings named McConnell and Ryan.
3. And now, a Supreme Court owned by ideological fanatics.
Even if we get control of the House in this election, we have a daunting path ahead of us. Republicans have achieved the goal they've been pursuing for decades. They "own" the entire government, and can do whatever they want to do.
Consider today the beginning. The start of the resistance. Consider it Day number "1" of a "war" to return America to democracy. Consider it a day on which we must begin to recapture what has been stolen from us.
They were patient. They built their movement of hatred and pure evil from the local level, right on up to the top. They cheated along the way with everything from gerrymandering, to all the "Jim Crow" tactics of the 20th Century, to new bullshit ID "laws," to closing polling places, to misinforming people as to voting dates and locations, and so, so much more. They will do whatever it takes.
Understand this. The Republican Party is a minority criminal enterprise that has stolen America from the majority of us. And it's up to us to take it back from them.
So if you feel like curling up into a ball and wallowing in self-pity, stop it. We cannot let this stand. Take a day off. Take a deep breath. And then get back into the fight. Martin Luther King said "The arc of history bends towards justice." I believe that. At this moment, it seems that evil has triumphed. And it has. -- For the moment.
But as Brett Kavanaugh said, "What goes around, comes around." Some day in the future, when that wheel turns, he will rue the reality of his words.
