Ford doesn't want Kavanaugh impeached, has no regrets

https://www-m.cnn.com/2018/10/05/politics/christine-blasey-ford-lawyers-brett-kavanaugh/index.html

Washington (CNN) — As Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh awaits a final Senate confirmation vote, a lawyer representing Christine Blasey Ford says she absolutely does not want him impeached if Democrats take control of Congress.

Ford's attorney Debra Katz tells CNN's Dana Bash in an interview that Ford only wanted to tell her story to Senate Judiciary Committee members. She doesn't want the process to drag on into the next Congress should Democrats end up winning control on Capitol Hill.

Putting aside the sexual assault allegations, Kavanaugh’s lies under oath and temperament alone should preclude him from being a Supreme Court Justice. Impeachment is warranted.

"I'd rather he not be impeached unless he clearly assaulted or raped someone else." Or something like that.

Her life will never be the same as a result of her choosing to come forward and much of that will be negative in many ways. We celebrated her for having the courage for coming forward so let's not abandon her now.
Despite what Blasey Ford hopes, things will only get worse in the future and our tribalism is more entrenched than ever. Each tribe is completely convinced that they are right and the other side is not only wrong, but evil. Each tribe has tens of millions of members and none of them are going anywhere regardless of what happens. No, there will be no political rapture where those on the right are sucked into a parallel dimension so on the Left if we don't endeavor to persevere we will find ourselves right where we are now again.
But impeachment without any chance of conviction in the Senate is like having sex with no possibility of orgasm. There's no point of firing up Republican voters with what ultimately will be a political gesture.

I think she won big. Kavanaugh getting on the court will be a decades long reminder about both sexual assault and the cravenness that Republicanism has drifted into.

But we can ferret out the truth with hearings. I want to know more and that information will help spark our confidence to go further to expose the right wing in general. Take the House!

to be done with this. How hard it must have been for her. Some of us would feel it was cathartic, I don't think she feels that way. I don't know, of course, but she has no responsibility for what happens next. I hope she can sink her life back into a protective place and live her life without having to remember this as the painful and disruptive episode it was for her for very long. There are countless many of us with stories who can and will take it from here.

pursued. No one should attribute further action to Ford. She did the right thing and it is out of her hands now.
