The collins ignominy is really quite easy to explain.

First, she doesn't care what Maine voters want. That is all too obvious. She doesn't care how many millions are raised to defeat her in 2020. She won't be running. This was just a big "fuck you" to her constituents.

Second, she had to have been bought. Think how deep the pockets supporting kav are. trump could get a couple of million easy. The koch's could buy her with their pocket change. The love kav well enough, but might have wished for a smoother operator. Still, they love sticking it to Democrats. If not outright cash, look to the boards she will sit on when she quits in 2020. She might have to leave Maine, but then she showed that she doesn't really like the place so screw the locals. Sitting on boards for millions and more millions still as a lobbyist for big oil, pharma, or insurance.

It's an old story that I hope some savvy news people will follow up on. Follow the money to see how politicians get bought.

Her name and her family's name will be pure shit from now on, but she never cared about anything but her own reward so the money will make her happy, low life and soulless husk that she is.

This is republican logic. They don't give a rat's behind what the majority thinks except on Election Day.

They understand that outrage today may not translate into votes on Election Day, especially if Election Day is years away. But money today *can* translate into votes on Election Day because money today can be spent during the campaign, shortly before the election.

So as long as elections aren't near, they're only interested in doing whatever raises the most money. Then they'll pay attention to their electorate for a few days as possible right before the election, which they try to win with money and lies and cheating.

After Collins' little dance, I'm quite certain that some republican megadonors gave her a ton to vote for kavanaugh.

That's all that she cares about.

She will not run in 2020. She will reap pure pay-off. Sure, they will hide it as investments or salary or bonus. But she sold her vote for money. As low as a politician can go.

Yeah, entirely possibly she'll just cash out though. It's what republicans do.

She knows she will be beaten badly were she to run. I'll bet she won't be spending much time at home for the next year. Few people have earned a shunning more that this empty shell.

They are not terribly bright, and they are easily manipulated.

The opinion they cling to - and fully agree with - is the last opinion they heard from someone else.

They will give two minutes of thought to the consequences of their actions, and then spend hours explaining how they made a decision based on research, careful thought, and personal introspection.

They are amateurs when it comes to rational thought, but experts at rationalizing their own stupidity.

they are not just unbright. They use other women for their gain. They play the game to garner support from women and then collude with the men to put themselves ahead of those women.

So I don't think collins is stupid. I think she is evil. She used the women's movement to advance herself and screw the cause. She doesn't give a damn about women's rights or needs. She is the evidence that we need to watch out for the idea that all we need is more women in congress. My US representative is kay granger. A bigger fraud, liar, money-grubbing shit than her greasy smile and phone grin would tell you.

It was always about getting something. She's done this a thousand times. People kept falling for it. For this one, she was the only hope that crapmaster kay had. She could argue that she was ending her career if she voted yes. Oh yes. She cashed in.

I do like the concept that she was just lied to, that she was played by the republican power group just as she has been lied to before. The irony of her abetting a women abuser and getting misused by those who helped is entertaining. But likely she will have sold her soul for a couple of hundred thousand a year and will be payed off.
