MA Absentee ballots available for Nov. 6 general election

Absentee ballots are now available for those who are unable to get to the polls to vote on Nov. 6.

Applications for absentee ballots may be submitted in writing to the city or town clerk where a person lives by mail, fax or email. Application forms are available on Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin's website.

Voters can also apply for a ballot or vote in person at the office of their city or town clerk or elections commission.

Applications for absentee ballots must be received by noon on Nov. 5. The ballots are due back at the same time as polls close on Election Day.

Absentee ballots are available only to voters who will be out of town on Election Day, or who have a disability or religious belief that prevents them from voting at their polling place on Election Day.

Massachusetts also has early voting, in which anyone is allowed to vote early. Early voting will begin Oct. 22. Each city and town will set up its own locations and hours for early voting.
