Do I think Dr. Ford's testimony was important? Hell yes.
But much more recently in time he had power over another young girl in his capacity as a federal judge, and he tried his damndest to make her carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. Because he could. Because she was brown and undocumented and in detention and powerless.
I would really, really have liked to know about that.

(4,103 posts)But he did have a calendar from 1982.
I don't understand why the media didn't press the issue of the 100,000 pages the White House hide from the Senate.
Up until we went down this rabbit hole, Kavanaugh did not even answer a single question directly, he was expecting to be handed the nomination without being accountable to anyone and would have but, thankful Dr. Ford came forward and at least got us this far.

(4,103 posts)so there is absolutely no reason the House should not begin to conduct a Benghazi-esque investigation into his blatant perjury as soon as they are sworn in at noon on January 3rd and and send it to a grand jury for indictment.

(13,571 posts)Followed the shiny object of sex, passing over the gambling debts, the financial irregularities, the Kennedy son's connection to Deutsche Bank, yada yada yada.
And then played by Flake and his "investigation" to give cover to Republican votes.
DiFi and her pathetic "Gentleman's agreement" with Grassley for an investigation without setting any parameters -- totally trusting in good faith of Republicans.
When will Dems realize that comity is not a goal but a trap when dealing with smashmouth partisans who will do anything to impose their sharia-like laws on America?

(42,770 posts)it again. Instead of being leery of their "one week investigation"...duh "one week" would have tipped most people off....they jumped with "Sure!". We actually might have been better off without it. Along with stressing every single moment about what you mentioned and that Dr Ford passed a lie detector test, did Kavenaugh?

The problem was the Dems werent given much to ask questions and the witnesses werent given much time to testify. But the Democrats did their best to cover in-depth his judicial record and also put out plenty about it in writing.

I am a Democrat to the absolute core of my being. My grandparents and parents instilled it in me. But for the sake of our party....please ...we need new blood !!!!!!!

(14,249 posts)Committee works but also seem to believe you know better than the Democrats on the committee what to do and how to do it.
What exactly do you think the Democrats should have done that they didnt do but that would have ensured that Kavanaugh would not be confirmed?
Please be specific.

(32,720 posts)about sexual predators like trump & kav. Of course, we should talk about it regardless BUT we also have to make sure to cover other issues as well.
EffieBlack
(14,249 posts)There were several days of hearings that covered those other issues. The sexual abuse allegations came up after that hearing was over and the hearing that was held thereafter was specifically limited to those allegations, and no other issues could be covered.

(90,753 posts)Everything else was wiped away in my memory, and in any case I was trying to save what's left of my sanity by not watching all of it.
So should I change my header to "We were dragged down a rabbit hole"? And did I need to acknowledge that the Repubs were so hell-bent on making sure Kav was given his place on the Court that he had been entitled to from birth, that they were not going to allow the most fundamental questions by the Dems? Because I am sure I said that or agreed to it someplace else, but if it needs to be said again in this OP, by all means.
My intent was to share what came to me in the past couple of days: Rabbit hole. Alice in Wonderland. Through the Looking Glass. wtf.

(5,164 posts)Even though he was questioned about some of the other major issues, even if it was blocked by rs as much as possible in the hearing and he also refused to answer questions as I recall and lied, someone should have been digging for answers, such as how was 200,000 was debt suddenly paid off and what was the real cause of it. I dont know if it would have stopped his confirmation because they have all been bought off obviously, but this should still all be exposed.

(35,302 posts)their was no better strategy that we didn't use that would have gotten a different result
