The Republicans should remember the words of

Isoroku Yamamoto after his forces attacked our Naval fleet at Pearl Harbor.

“I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

Stay pissed off folks. Use it as motivation to get rid of all these motherfuckers.

Remember! Remember!!

6. Animal House and rape culture: what Brett Kavanaugh's teen-movie viewing taught us

During his charged hearing last week, the supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s detailing of his teenage viewing habits was illuminating: Animal House, Caddyshack, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Kavanaugh invoked these 1980s teen movies as an excuse for the “goofy” things he was up to at the time, which certainly didn’t include blackout-level drinking or sexual assault – allegations that Kavanaugh has denied. But that’s pretty much what those movies served up. Looking back, those frat-house movies of the late 1970s/early 80s look less like a celebration of masculine “goofiness” and more a dodgy celebration of rape culture and male entitlement – if not a training manual.

But seriously, it is interesting how movies about historical events often get blended with the events themselves.

8. I suspect a huge percentage of US adults don't even know there's an election next month.

And if 30% of those under 30 turn out and vote in the midterms, it would be considered a great success.

Not feeling too optimistic about the sleeping giant.

9. Indeed, this is a line from a movie

And there is no indication that he ever said it. However, the following from Wiki:

"In The Reluctant Admiral, Hiroyuki Agawa gives a quotation from a reply by Admiral Yamamoto to Ogata Taketora on January 9, 1942, which is similar to the famous version: "A military man can scarcely pride himself on having 'smitten a sleeping enemy'; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack."[5]"

The movie quote is far more pithy, but the sentiment is similar to the actual.
