wife and I are watching "13 reasons why" - it is triggering us, because there are many future trumps

in that show. there are future Dr. Fords. I don't know if the writer expected the show to be so relevant for our times, but wow...it is.

I get triggered by trump - and that show - because my school was a hot bed of bullying - it was the prototypical school of mostly blue collar white that aimed for mediocrity - good students got shunned and bullied, blacks got sidelined and ignored, jocks and cheerleaders were worshiped....I hated every second. What I got to see there are many future republican voters - whiners, didn't try hard, resented anyone who achieved and succeeded because they were too racist or lazy to achieve themselves. I was a perfect target - not a jock, good student, pretty clumsy about the dating thing - I had so many bully targets right on my back. It was hell.

I did my grad school work at Dartmouth - and got to see close up another trumpian incubator. As a destitute grad student, I got to TA the favored class - the kids that drove around in BMWs bought for them by rich mom and dad as graduation presents. I got to be told not to give out honest grades because this or that future failure had parents that were big time donors. I occasionally stepped in to a weekend party - Dartmouth was big on frats - and that was pretty appalling.

So I got to see what both the trump types, and trump followers come from. It was quite an education. Sadly, nothing that I am seeing today is surprising. The framework for both types of behavior is all laid out right in front of us. I suppose many here could tell similar stories.

But trump as president is really a worse nightmare scenario - the rich kid enabled major bully making it all the way (illegally) to the top, how shitting all over victims.

This particular time in our history truly sucks.

...is exactly Brett Kavanaugh.

There’s a scene that plays out almost exactly how Dr. Ford alleges.

The character of Bryce was probably based on Brett Kavanaugh.

The acting on this series is incredible.
