Sounds like this isn't the first time Julie Swetnick was betrayed by the justice system.

She says she went with her mother to report her rape the day after it happened. She names the police officer she reported it to. It should have been easy to make arrests based on her report, but this doesn't seem to have happened. It sounds to me as if the police were loathe to go after the privileged young men she alleged raped her.

I'm going to insert my own #metoo story here: I reported that I was raped in 1981. In my case, the perpetrator was arrested and indicted. In preparation for a trial--a trial that never happened, as the perpetrator skipped bail--I asked to review the testimony I'd given during the grand jury hearing.

I'd expected to be given a transcript, but instead I was given an audiotape. Also included on the audiotape was the testimony of one of the police officers, which I had never heard before. I listened in shock as he not only got basic facts wrong--saying, for example, that I'd been walking home at 5 am rather than 11 pm--but also said that he did not believe me.

Back to Julie Swetnick: Given that the police seem not to have acted on her report, no wonder she seems a tad angry. Why shouldn't she be angry? Why does her anger make her less credible? I'd be angry, too. I only hope I'd be strong enough to come forward a second time, when the odds of being believed are even lower.

So (as rarely happens) she actually reported it to the police contemporaneously? lagomorph777 Oct 2018 #2

That some of the victims must have gone to the police. The criminals, parents were called and money changes hands. Reports were then "disappeared."

I am sorry that happened to you. I hope he was eventually caught.

The reporters who interviewed her did their best the check her claims.

The policeman she said she reported the rape to died and the police department claimed it would take a month to try to track down the report.

Her mother has also died.

She claims she told 4 people. One has died, one says he doesn’t know her and 2 have not come forward. I assume they don’t know where these people could be located.

I do hope that people come forward or they find the police report.
