White House claims Trump didn't insult reporter by saying she's 'not thinking'

A transcript released by the White House Monday night claims President Trump told a female reporter she wasn’t “thanking,” after most heard him tell her “you’re not thinking” during a news conference Monday in the Rose Garden.

Trump on Monday called on ABC News’ Cecilia Vega, and then claimed she was “in a state of shock” that he had picked her to ask a question.

"She's shocked that I picked her. She's like in a state of shock," Trump said.

“I’m not. Thank you, Mr. President,” Vega said.

“That’s okay, I know you’re not thanking. You never do,” Trump said, according to the White House transcript released hours after the event. Several news reports reported that Trump said "you're not thinking. You never do."
