Brett Kavanaugh Slapped With Two Official Ethics Complaints in Merrick Garlands Jurisdiction
by Colin Kalmbacher | 11:27 am, October 2nd, 2018
Two ethics complaints have been filed against Brett Kavanaugh in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Court on which he sits. As of this writing, those two complaints are being administered by the circuit courts chief judge and previously defeated Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland.
Kavanaugh is likely to face ethical questions despite the disposition of those two official complaints due to his partisan attacks against Democrats, the Clintons and other liberal groups when he alleged a vast, left-wing conspiracy against him during testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee last week.
According to Buzzfeed News Zoe Tillman, one of those official complaints concerns an allegation that Kavanaugh lied about the sexual assault allegations against him.
Filed on September 27, the sexual assault complaint predates Kavanaughs recent testimony during his re-hearing to address the allegations leveled against him by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. This complaint does, however, contain specific allegations of perjury against Kavanaugh due to his written statements provided while to the Senate while under oath. The 12-page filing notes, in relevant part:
The other complaint deals with allegations that Kavanaugh lied before the Senate Judiciary Committee when he testified during his initial confirmation hearing that he didnt know he received and worked off of a treasure trove of documents stolen by a GOP operative from Senate Democrats during his time with the administration of George W. Bush.
The 11-page filing notes, in relevant part:
Both the sexual assault-themed complaint and the stolen documents-themed complaint base their objections to Kavanaugh on the Judicial Conduct and Disability Act (JCDA) and the Judicial Conference of the United States Rules for Judicial-Conduct and Judicial-Disability, essentially various standards of professional behavior codified in federal law and by which all U.S. judges are expected to abide or face censure, impeachment and/or removal from the bench.

(4,341 posts)They have the power and they are going to do with it whatever they want. I would like to think "this is it for kavinaugh", but recent history has shown that somehow these crooks get to move their agenda forward.
I hope everyone who is predicting the final fall of kavanaugh is right.
Just one question...how did this crook, lying SOB, raper ended as a judge?

(6,557 posts)He had a lot of "help" along the way. Think Federalist Society, and he has had a lot of help from the conservative right to pull him through scrapes when they happened. He is a privileged elite from day one. tRumps minion who hate the elite, seem to be fine with conservative elitists.

(260 posts)Never think there is bottom to their perfidy, as much as I hope that arrogant little man never sits on our Supreme Court, I think the odds are good that he will.
Does anyone really think that Flake, Murkowski, or Collins(!) would vote against the Party (tRump)?
He got where he is by being a connected Republican, like John Yoo.

(81,498 posts)I WISH TO GOD this really could be karma, really could be the end for the Frat Brat, as is being expressed farther upthread. But I fear hes gonna be ramrodded into SCOTUS anyway.
So if and when we get the House back, impeaching the SOB should be Priority One. A Democratic House of Reps could do it and put that black mark into the history books beside Kavanaughs name. Doubtful the Senate would concur. Its a mighty high bar to convict and then remove.
As we saw, thats how it played out with President Bill Clinton. He WASNT convicted in the Senate but he sure as hell was impeached in the GOP-controlled House of Reps. And that record now stands, for all of history. Hell always be the 20th century president who was impeached. Even though he survived the trial in the Senate - ironically enough, prosecuted by GOP House members supposedly decrying sexual offenses against a young woman (in that case, NO 15-year-old victim who was a straight out NON-consenting minor assaulted against her will, but a 23 or 24-year-old CONSENTING ADULT).
And Bill Clinton had to pay for that. He had to pay for that, bigtime. Its on his ledger for all of history. He was formally disbarred. He AND his family were subject to MASSIVE and years-long accusations and degradation and public humiliation as Ken Starr and his flying monkeys (Kavanaugh chief among them) crawled through everything about both Bills and Hillarys backgrounds and personal lives, through multiple scandals and whispering campaigns and wild-ass conspiracies and rumors of every sort. There were -gates of all kinds. Travelgate. Filegate. Whitewatergate. That last one so nicknamed, I suspect, to reflect the desperate wishes and frustrated ambitions of the GOP to achieve payback for Nixon. And more.
All of the above - turning up NOTHING despite all that time, taxpayers millions, and operatives of every stripe (Kavanaugh among them), fanning out across the country repeatedly, trying to dig up Something-ANYTHING thatd stick. They found a single stained blue dress and rode it straight into the impeachment winners circle. And lets remember, the owner of said stained blue dress was a consenting adult, over 21, AT THE TIME.
These bastards now see no reason why their little miscreant unapologetic frat boy should have to pay for anything. (Hmmm reminds me of something the already-abused and soon-to-be murder victim Nicole Brown Simpson said about her ex-husband, O. J. Simpson: that hed get away with brutalizing her, and worse, because his star status meant he never had to pay for anything) Even attempted gang rape, which is basically what that fun little drinking game called the Devils Triangle actually IS.
Its STILL a sin on your soul, Mr. I-went-to-Little-Flower-church-all-the-time. Youre gonna pay for it eventually, one way or the other, dude. Any Catholic knows (or should know) that.

"The two extant ethics complaints against Kavanaugh were filed by the Democratic Coalition, a Super PAC led by Democratic Party fixture Scott Dworkin and previously profiled by Law&Crime here".

(9,670 posts)When the GOP plugs its ears, pinches its nose, closes its eyes, and installs this mega-cretin as a Supreme Court justice.
They. don't. care.
And the base will cheer and clap and parade around their "Gotcha Libtards" moment. To them, the scent of that 'victory' obliterates the stench of their actions.
Color me jaded.
