Are people lulled into a false sense of security by the Mueller investigation?

It seems to me that a lot of people, and I don't mean anyone here, are just sitting back and doing nothing while waiting for Mueller (or someone else in general) to save the day.

I have been thinking a lot about the sheer level of corruption, scandals, inhumane polices, etc. that have happened since Trump has taken office and how, for the most part, there really haven't been many, and in almost all cases zero, consequences.

Norms and traditions have been shattered. The head of the Environmental Protection Agency doesn't even believe in the basic science of climate change. Our Secretary of Education doesn't believe in public schools and lacks basic fundamental knowledge about the education system. The Housing and Urban Development Secretary had no prior housing, government, or executive experience before being handed the job. The President's family members have all been given positions in the administration with zero experience. They continue to financially profit off of the Presidency. Countless regulations enacted to protect us have been rolled back. Thousands of children have been separated from their parents, caged and detained, and now moved to a tent city with no schooling and barely any access to legal services. The administration has embraced our enemies and isolated our allies. There really hasn't been anything done to safeguard our elections. And now we're having to battle a sexual predator from taking a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court. This doesn't remotely begin to even SCRATCH THE SURFACE of what's been going on the last two years.

Mueller can't fix any of this? There's no one person out there that can fix any of this?

People need to wake up. The normal checks and balances that used to be in place aren't there any more. We, the people, are the ones with the power to take back our democracy. People are sitting on the sidelines waiting for some imaginary hero to save the day when it's themselves with all of the power to make a difference. No more sidelines, let's show these corrupt cowards the power of the people and vote every last one of them out that's up for election in November!

And yes, I'm concerned that the FBI and Justice Department have been stocked with True Believer GOP since Bush litmus-tested and retired thousands of agents during his second term. While it's possible internal department warfare is creating a slowdown of what would be lightning-fast correction were Trump a Democrat, I'm heartened by the steady progress I see in the Manafort and Cohen flips.

The nation has been seriously damaged. People are dying from the tangible and intangible machinations of quite evil humans, and standing by with only the power to write and march and vote has been insufferable.

We have to be brave, and we have to act in any small way we can. The activists confronting these men on a daily basis are heroes to me, and I am grateful for every one of them.

Yes We Can.

That's really where we are. They've never been perfect by any stretch. But they did have the effect of at least influencing those in power. The provided a context in which there was a concept of "too far". But we have passed that.

The GOP is governing now with majority power, and minority support. They've ultimately given up on the idea of winning the majority support of the population. Their fairly open intent is to get power, and then hold on to it through any means of suppression, deception, and/or gerrymandering. As such, there is nothing they won't do to get power and keep it. So corruption is meaningless to them unless it threatens their control. They're going to the mat right now for Kavanaugh because it is their chance to get control of the SC, and then use it to maintain control of the other branches. They can protect themselves from corruptions consequences through a cooperative judicial branch. They're willing to risk loosing actual control of the congress, because they believe it will be a slim majority, and one they can use their control of state level voting to undermine and ultimately regain. This will be especially true when the SC refuses to enforce anything like voting rights.

I read the other day that right now the Senate is controlled by the representation of 18% of the population. We have a president that was elected by a not so significant minority. We have a House that is woefully under representing the majority due to gerrymandering. The system, when functioning like that, ultimately will collapse because those in power will not have an interest in "preserving, protecting and defending" the constitution, but instead, their hold on power.

If you create a torture program, you will attract the sadists.
If you create a children's program, you will attract pedophiles.
If you create a government of the few, over the many, you will attract the fascists.

but, as of right now, his probe seems to be the only avenue for *some* kind of accountability for Trump/Russia/GOP, at least until the 2018 midterms (which I will crawl over broken glass and hot coals to vote in).
