Howard Dean: "You Can't Convince People That A Dem Is Going To Cut Medicare"

Last edited Sun Aug 12, 2012, 10:49 PM - Edit history (1)

"Here's the problem with talking about $700 billion that got cut out of Medicare, which was then transferred to ObamaCare, which takes care of the same people -- the problem is that nobody believes it. You can't convince people that a Democrat is going to cut Medicare. They don't believe that," fmr. Gov. Howard Dean (D-Vt.) said on "This Week" today.

"It's the same problem Mitt Romney has with all his Swiss bank accounts and his Cayman Island accounts," Dr. Dean said. "People just don't think that Mitt Romney cares about ordinary people, they just don't believe he does. And I don't think the addition of Paul Ryan is going to help that any. That's the problem, that's the core problem."

"People vote on whether you care -- this candidate cares about people like me and I don't think that this is going to change that very much on the Republican side," Dean said.

Dean let's make the clarification the cuts are for wastes and abuse of the system. n/t vaberella Aug 2012 #2
The cuts were largely removal of extra payments to "Medicare Choice" providers. SharonAnn Aug 2012 #11
And they were padding the Cost of Care with adventising, which the ACA says No to doing it. freshwest Aug 2012 #13

These private "insurance" companies wanted more money to provide what Medicare provides for less money.

The ACA insists that the lion's share go directly to paying the doctors, etc. for patient care. Good add, there, SharonAnn.

People do it all the time despite the facts.

Oh, and for all those older Americans who voted GOP last year because those nasty Democrats were going to cut Medicare, I have just one word: suckers!
