At best, Kavanaugh was drunk during yesterday's performance

At worst, he wasn't.

And assuming he was sober, a man with his temperament has no business on the Supreme Court. Or even baby sitting a hamster.

If he ends up being confirmed to the Supreme Court, it's quite obvious that the Republican Party would have had no problem giving that seat to Caligula or Jack the Ripper.

Republicans have always claimed to be the party of values. They have made those "values" very clear to every sane person who doesn't watch Fox "news."

It happens when they stop drinking but don't change the underlying behaviors that led to it.

Heavy drinking in adolescence is no reason to assume it's still going on at 57 in a high functioning (sort of) person.

Fwiw, I agree with the OP that the worst possibility is that Kavanaugh wasn't under the influence of anything except his own personality. The worst is also by far the more likely.

You are ill-informed on this medical condition. No one is slandering him, unless you buy the RW memes about his choir boy (occasional beer only personna) And if so, SHAME ON YOU.

NO one is saying all heavy drinkers--at any stage of life--develop this syndrome--but there is ample evidence that MANY do.

Accusing me of slander is really beyond the pale, despite my realizing this is something you take personally.

is it libel? Since the internet I've never been sure.

Also, no one here is qualified to speak on his medical condition, even if an appropriate specialist were among us. So let's not pretend this discussion is on some more elevated, intellectual level than it is.

As for accusing you, I was accusing most of this kind of thread, which includes a few others that would elevate DU by being deleted. Discussion of a man shockingly oblivious to limits would be far more effective with a display of our own. For contrast.

Trump liked what he saw because K was belligerent and angry, but that's not the way a Supreme Court justice should behave. If he was drunk it means he's likely an alcoholic (and a mean drunk, at that); if he wasn't, he's just a belligerent asshole. Neither belligerent assholes nor mean drunks belong on the Supreme Court.

And can you imagine what would have been said if Dr. Ford had behaved like that?

What he bellowed out yesterday was beyond weird:

“I’m a single white male from South Carolina, and I’m told I should just shut up, but I will not shut up.”

He sounded like some guy who was about to publicly come out of the closet.

...simply because he had the power to do so. He was trying to get her to the point where it would be too dangerous to perform an abortion at all, and hence her only option would be to give birth while she herself was in captivity for daring to cross the border.

This was recent. This is his cold ideologically-driven soul. Power over women.
