It has been a trying week for the decent people of our country
I am truly saddened as I sit here and contemplate these courageous women having to publically retell the horrors that have been inflicted on them. These sexual assaults are from just one group of males at one school and if you scale that up to a nation of millions, I cannot fathom how many women out there are having to carry these types of memories of assaults with them throughout their lives. The negative effects it has had on them I'm sure are many and certainly not easily or perhaps ever forgotten. Some live in continuing fear, some have had marriages affected and all bear the scars in various ways of what happened to them. We have seen that attested to in posts right here on DU. No one in this country or any country for that matter should have to live like that.
To think that now the republican party is trying to elevate a man to the highest court in our country whose history has become suspect with multiple accusations and without a full and complete investigation should be unthinkable.
Unfortunately, it is not. After seeing the behavior and statements of support by the republican leadership it fills me with disgust. If ever there were a reason, in the best interest of our country. to have many more women in the halls of Congress, it is now!
