Simply Put - Imagine This

Last edited Sun Sep 23, 2018, 01:25 AM - Edit history (1)

Kavanugh is nominated for the Supreme Court.

A male comes forward and accuses Kavanaugh of attempting to rape him at a party during their high school years.

The Republicans immediately dismiss the allegation, and insist that no investigation into the nominee’s past is warranted. They write-off the event as a “youthful indiscretion fuelled by alcohol”, which should be viewed as totally irrelevant to the nominee’s character.

They’d say, “Well, what male high school student didn’t try to fuck another guy when the opportunity presented itself?”

Yeah, that’s exactly how it would play out.

If the accusations against Kavanaugh were about him sexually molesting another man, the Republicans wouldn’t be sitting on their tightened sphincters, determined to “plow him through” (no pun intended, but obvious nonetheless) to a seat on the Supreme Court.

They’d be insisting on a full investigation into Kavanaugh’s past, and no detail would be considered too salacious to be explored and ultimately exposed.

BUT – Christine Ford is a female. Ergo, by GOP standards, she is automatically presumed to be lying, to be “mistaken” and/or “mixed up”, just another Democratic operative looking for attention.

Because a she has made the allegations, those allegations are dismissed out-of-hand.

If a he had made exactly the same allegations, Republicans would be distancing themselves from Kavanaugh faster than a homophobe runs away from a Pride parade.

It’s that simple. It’s that obvious. It’s that fuckin’-in-your-face blatant.

Women are liars, men are truthful. And THAT is what Republicans are all about.

1. pretty much...

Sep 2018

In 1983, Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards quipped to reporters "The only way I can lose this election is if I'm caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy".

pretty much sums up the repuke attitude.

Ford didn't die so it's just "youthful hijinks"... but if she had been MALE... well we can't have that!

IOW, in this hypothetical, it's not ENTIRELY the fact that the accuser is male vs. female.

Not sayin' it's 'right', but I'm just sayin' ... you alluded to this reality, but then more or less discounted it in the end.

When the classmate came forward with account of rape by priest at Georgetown Prep. When the priest admitted to abuse of students, Judge blamed the victim because he was gay, said he brought it upon himself.

Nice bunch of guys.

5. Yes, it's hypothetical.

But it's a hypothetical that's worthy of serious consideration, IMHO.

Would the GOP dismiss the allegations of a male accuser as quickly as they dismiss the allegations of a female accuser?

I think we both know the answer to that hypothetical question. Accusations of attempted rape by Kavanaugh on a man would never be automatically dismissed by the homophobic Republicans.

6. Perhaps not, but I tend to lean towards thinking their motivation is more 'political' than 'gender'

based in this PARTICULAR circumstance.

If the accuser were male who could be in any way credibly pinned to 'our side', pretty sure they'd be hyping their 'gay agenda' bullshit, put it like that.

Good evening to you Nance, I always enjoy your work

... is exactly the point.

If Kavanaugh's accuser were a male, do you think the GOP's position would be "let's not discuss this, it's not relevant"?

They'd be running away from him as fast as their homophobic asses could move.

Their attitude contains another element which is even worse than you describe:

They reveal without admission that they believe a female's purpose is to be used by a male.
It's not just that she's lying, mistaken, or mixed up. She's not worth the consideration that is to be given a male. She's merely a piece of Adam, created for Adam's use.

13. It would be the same kind of shit-show.

Any man who came forward would be ravaged in the EXACT same way! They would point out Kavanaugh is married with children, so he couldn't possibly have done this. For fuck's sake, it is the same goddamn shit we see HERE! So, no, it wouldn't be ANY different; if anything, it would might inspire even more attacks on gay men, because people associate gay with bad. You don't need to go any further than here to see people explain "cocksuckers" isn't a homophobic slur when used against RWingers.

I will also point out, if the male accuser was also gay, it would also be as bad, if not worse, than what we are seeing now. Do NOT for a minute think the "word" of a gay man is "valid" when launched against a straight person. For all the people concerned about "male privilege", everyone seems to fucking forget, that STRAIGHT privilege is also very fucking real!

Dr. Ford's statements have not been given the same consideration.
