Memo to Mitch McConnell

Might I remind you of your own words when you refused Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland a hearing.

“The next justice could fundamentally alter the direction of the Supreme Court and have a profound impact on our country, so of course the American people should have a say in the court’s direction.”

Well, Mitch, guess what? The people are having their say on Brett Kavanaugh – and they’re saying it loud and clear. Two recent polls (USA Today/Ipsus and NBC/Wall Street Journal) show that more Americans oppose Brett Kavanaugh being confirmed to the Supreme Court than those who support his confirmation.

This is the first time in the history of these polls that there has been that much opposition to a Supreme Court nominee.

You initially told Trump to choose “anyone but Kavanaugh”. Why? Why did you refuse to release thousands of documents with respect to Kavanaugh’s past record? Why did you advise Trump and White House counsel, Don McGahn, that Kavanaugh’s lengthy paper trail would pose difficulties for his confirmation?

So exactly what do you know – and when did you know it?

More recently, you stated: “In the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the U.S. Supreme Court. So, my friends, keep the faith. Don’t get rattled by all this. We’re going to plow right through it and do our job.”

In other words, you’ve already decided that regardless of whatever Professor Ford may testify to, you are going to ignore it and put Kavanaugh on the SCOTUS bench anyway.

By the way, part of your job is to act as a check and balance of your “pResident” – something you and your colleagues have repeatedly failed to do. So it’s a little late in the game to start pointing to your obligation to “do our job” – don’tcha think?

Maybe it’s time for you to tuck your hypocritical little turtle head back into its shell, and crawl back to that dank place under whatever rock you emerged from. You’ll recognize it immediately – it’s that slimy underworld where putting an accused rapist on the Supreme Court is no different than putting a traitor in the Oval Office.

...they don't care, and the Republican Party base doesn't care (most of them would deny it or be too stupid to realize it).

The only person I hate more than him is Trump. May they both die horrible, painful deaths.

The only thing he will hear is if we can say "if you confirm him, we will cause you to lose ALL of your power and do everything we can to cause you to lose ALL of your money." That's the only thing Mitch McConnell gives a flying f**k about. There is no such thing as integrity or consistency.

And that's what we need to go after - power and money. Those are the only factors that lead them to change. Threaten one or more of them and they start to listen. (Technically life, too, but that makes us worse than them.)
