Need a shower. Just called all 11 GOP Senators on Judiciary Committee

Last edited Thu Sep 20, 2018, 02:45 PM - Edit history (1)

Only had trouble with Cornyn. Had to call his Dallas office to leave a comment. Actually spoke to an aide in Sasse and Crapo's offices. I always have a zip code handy if asked for it. I have my previous addresses from TX, AZ, and NC to use.

I think you can get to the GOP committee at 202-224-5225.

Someone posted another number, but it is for the Minority (Democratic) members. I called it as well. Here's what happened.

The woman was extremely nice. She then transferred me to some scum at the Majority's number. I was about a quarter of the way through my comments, when he said, "Thank you for calling".

I lost it. I said, "Oh, I see, the GOP doesn't even respect a woman's opinion. Well, we're going to vote you sons of bitches out!"

Keep calling.

However, it is clear that women are so worthless and unimportant to the GOP that they won’t even field our phone calls respectfully...men need to call. Men need to call. The GOP only respects men. I’m so pissed off that I almost can’t function today. I hate these people.

Have you seen the protesters in the Senate Hallway getting arrested?

One pundit said they were in front of Collins office.

Your BEST, beyond the fact that you’re actually calling these people, is the ZIP CODES. having those ZIP CODES handy. Because the staffers and interns who answer these phones do ask what your zip code is. Mainly to differentiate callers FROM the district and callers OUTSIDE the district (or state, in this case).

They put a LOT more importance on callers from their own turf. I actually called Collins’ office, years ago, on another matter, and had some rude young male staffer bellow into the phone “and WHAT does this have to do with THE STATE OF MAINE???” I learned quickly that you have to present a geographical justification for their royal narrow “interest” to be triggered.

So I learned that lesson, too. Have an address AND ZIP CODE handy when you call, if it’s not your state or district.

Did you live there in the past?
Do you still own property there?
Do you have relatives and/or in laws there?
Do you have close friends there, college roommates, work-related friends there?
Did you go to school there?
Do/did you work there?
Do you have clients there?
Own a business there?
If you live in Maine but your aging father retired to Miami, don’t you think you still have an interest in what goes on in that area?
If your best friend is in a state where they’ve thrown out all the Planned Parenthood clinics but she can’t afford to get a Pap smear anywhere else? Don’t you have an interest in what goes on in that state?

Have a ZIP CODE ready!!! AND an address too, if possible! It lets you weigh in there and have your opinion counted. And you DON’T have to volunteer why. You DON’T have to give details.

"Zillow Homes for Sale" in each of their districts and states. A cell phone number can be from anywhere. I have done this hundreds of times and they rarely ask for your while address, but if they do I have it. I also say I recently moved here (my accent) if I am asked. Usually the staffers only want complete info if you are complimenting them. If you complain they usually don't. All of the staffers I have called from both parties over the past few weeks have been nice, gave me ample time to go through my list of why Kavanaugh should be a NO vote and then said bye.

If your phone has a different area code than the rep’s state or district, your answer is a good one: “I just moved here”/“I’m new here” or some such. I have a West LA area code even though I’ve moved much farther north.

I’m sure they’re told to behave when they take your call. But I suspect you may got reach a young partisan who could just as easily NOT count your input.

Also, some of these phone answerers are probably young, maybe interns, maybe volunteers - also known as “unpaid.” And I bet they take a LOT of guff from jerks who call in. Don’t be one of those.

Besides, don’t think somebody who might be a hard partisan won’t remember if some caller gives him/her a bad time and what they called about. People hold grudges. People’s opinions get shaped by some of the most random things sometimes. Like - oh shit - just another “tree hugger” - man, if I ever run for office, fuck them!!!

It HAPPENS. As an occasional grudge-holder myself, I KNOW it does. I’ve had experiences in which - it doesn’t matter HOW nice so-&-so was at that meeting. So-&-so was so rude to me that day that I don’t give a crap what they say now, I’m voting against it.

People are human. It happens.

I know have a diff area code from where they lived since people move but keep the same cell phone number for years. I also tell them I am a nurse or a worker in a hospital or a teacher. I tell them that "my coworkers and I have been discussing this and we are all pretty upset about about so and so"...power in numbers.

A relative was a staffer for my Dem rep in DC and she answered the phones. She told me that they really do listen to the callers and make note of the issue you are calling about and they use it, they don't throw them out.

I got the Zillow idea from someone at an Impeach Trump rally last year, before that I used local post offices and it took forever.

both parties' members on the Senate Judic Comm. Next to each one is where you can contact them at their local offices and DC offices.

I have called them all but I keep doing it since I can do Zillow and call in 5 min for each senator.

I spent 3 days working with some Trumpers in hot, dusty, farm work (needed to get ahead of Florence's aftermath headed this way). There was 1 other straight Democratic voter in the bunch. All of us are old men just helping a good neighbor out, except the son of the owner of the farm, who is in his late 30s or early 40s.

The son had made the comment, "I like him" after I had said Trump has been a vicious parasite his whole life. When I told him we screwed up by not voting in the most qualified candidate in our history, he exclaimed, "We don't want a woman running the United States!" In shock, I pointed out a president doesn't "run" the U.S.

It's like getting slammed backward at least half a century. The GOP is an insane cult. They seem to want a social order from the McCarthy era and an economic order from the early Industrial Revolution.

Are women qualified to hold elected positions in local, state and national government? If you believe the answer is yes, you better get some women qualified to vote the GOPers out! (Yes, it is absolutely crazy to even ask such a question, but that's the world we're dealing with under government by Fox, Putin, and Greedy Old Perverts).
