Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAt election time the pukes all wear blue ties on T V, and have blue lawn signs.
At least here in my area. No mention on the lawn signs they are republican. Another sleazy tactic that probably works for them.
To be fair though democrats don't mention they are democrats on their lawn signs either. I don't know why they don't. I sure would.
Red and blue seem to lose meaning at election time.

(94,727 posts)Conservatives do the reverse.
A candidate knows that their base knows who to vote for, but wants to keep things a neutral as possible for low information voters.

This party of repugs have clearly shown that they have failed in their duty to the country in providing checks and balances to rump and his cronies.
They do not deserve to be voted in, either for the first time, or re-elected.

(13,390 posts)About the time people started using them as metaphors for anger and sadness. They used to describe points on a color spectrum. They lost meaning again when the media started using them for partisanship symbols. If significant numbers of people are relying on them to determine who they should vote for, we are in worse shape than I thought.

(13,390 posts)But, my point stands. Two words that were devoted to representation of specific emperical observation have been polluted as they have begun to be used symbolically. If we can't be bothered to look beyond the visual symbol, we are in trouble.

(52 posts)They are all exactly the same. They play a win/lose sport.
Many love one team, and hate the others. Their life is festooned with their team's colors and they detest anyone that might display another's colors. Even though the teams are exactly the same.
We'd better quit seeing only red/blue and D/R, and use our brains to choose the best candidates.
It's time to get this country back on track.
It's not a game.
