(26,757 posts)The FBI has no jurisdiction to investigate anything in this case because no federal crime has been alleged.
In their role of performing background investigations, their client is the White House. If the WH doesnt ask them to open a new investigation.., there wont be one.
What gets me is that they arent worried about what that says.

(6,324 posts)The allegations are all of violations of law that are not within federal jurisdiction. The proper investigative body for these allegations as a criminal case is the local police department that has jurisdiction.
The FBIs only legal jurisdiction is part of a background check ordered on a potential appointee by the White House. That is a one time report- its orders, compiled and submitted.
That has already been done. During the course of this investigation no evidence of these allegations were found by the FBI. This despite the fact that several people on our side were aware and made the choice not to inform the FBI- this was a grave mistake in my view. A persons desire for privacy doesnt override a persons obligation to provide the FBI all relevant knowledge.
Now, the President can order the background check reopened. But people seem to think that means more than it does. All this means is that that go interview Preoffesor Ford, interview Mr Judge, interview anyone who may have firsthand knowledge of the event they find, and put records of those interviews in the file. And by interview I mean friendly, nonpressure, similar to a job interview type.
Thats it. They dont go all SVU and CSI, they dont get warrants and search homes or emails or phone records. They dont confront anyone if stories dont match. They just interview people.
So pretty much it will be the same info we already have been told. And thats it.
