She wants it investigated by the FBI first, and not have the process rushed.

(872 posts)I think the repubs will try to rush it through and confirm him without hearing her side.

(26,757 posts)Flake said that he wouldnt vote to send the nominee out of committee if she wasnt given a chance to testify... but today he said that Monday is that chance and he would vote yes again if she didnt show up.
Collins made similar stataements that Ford should be given a chance to tell her story, but that it shouldnt be an excuse to significantly extend the calendar.

(47,209 posts)They wont at least pretend to be carefully considering the issue. Public perceptions matter- and women have never mattered more to the GOP. Theyre losing their support by the day, and ramming this through will not help. A lot could happen.

This is no political angle here...it is a matter of life and death and not wanting to be a target anymore. Not again.
Why are Republicans so scared of a full investigation by the FBI? Or DOJ? Or the DA?

(92,394 posts)up because it isn't true.
It will be up to the Democrats to refute that, but more important to make a point of the fact that the republicans do NOT want an investigation of the facts.
The vote will come down to this. Those in Congress who believes there should be a non-partisan investigation on this, or not.
On Monday I suspect Kavanaugh will be confirmed, but there she be no doubt where the republicans stand on women

(2,795 posts)We are only predicting what that dirty bunch of republicans will likely do. None of this about the truth or fairness with the republicans - it's optics to try and appease the viewing public. They want a confirmation and they want it before the mid terms in case they lose the senate. They don't have time to have hearings for another deplorable trump nominee.
LandOfHopeAndDreams
(872 posts)I really think unless they are stopped in their tracks, they are going to keep on rolling and get him confirmed, and worry about any repercussions later. Their ultimate goal and Drumpf's is to get him on the court for the next 40 years. If the Democrats are to have any hope, they have to put a bullet through him. Unfortunately, I think pushing it further down the road is not something the repubs are going to deal very well with.

(24,122 posts)And after I was only to happy to sing DiFi's praises, I just saw on MSNBC that she is now saying she doesn't know if everything Dr. Ford is saying about KKKavanaugh is truthful. WTF?!?! Not helpful!!
Or, did I hear that wrong?
