Al Gore: 'This experiment with Trumpism is not going well'

Former Vice President Al Gore (D) on Tuesday said "this experiment with Trumpism is not going well."

"In science and medicine, some experiments are terminated early for ethical reasons," he argued during an interview with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell.

Mitchell asked Gore, who after his time in office became best known for his environmental activism, what he would say to climate change deniers and skeptics, including those in the Trump administration, in light of the powerful hurricane that caused dangerous flooding in North Carolina this week.

"I think at this point it matters less what I would say to them, or more importantly what the scientists would say to them, than what Mother Nature is saying to them," Gore said.

Gore noted there have been other major natural disasters in recent weeks, including the "super-typhoon" slamming the Philippines, Tropical Storm Olivia in Hawaii, the largest fires in the history of California, as well as Hurricane Florence.

"Every night on the television news is like a major hike through the Book of Revelation," Gore said.

Hurricane Florence by Tuesday afternoon had killed 32 people, according to official estimates.

There are some religious folks who'll literally take the changing weather patterns as evidence of the coming rapture, and thus ignore the science, and things we as human beings can do to address these serious issues.

Humans are building homes and infrastructure everywhere. It makes sense that more of us would be negatively impacted as more and more of our homes and the like are impacted.

Hardly surprizing in a society prone to instant gratification that a religion promising instant salvation would be popular.

overuse the coming of end times as listed in the book of revelations to show that climate change is inescapable, thus do nothing. Rapture really didn't clarify the point I wanted to make precisely, but that some humans will use anything to ignore doing anything about climate change, when all of us together can made a difference, e.g., the banning of some aerosol sprays preserving the ozone layer (or allowing it to be regenerated by the atmosphere) is clear evidence that we can make a difference.

Thanks.
