The shoes are too narrow for me, and I feel they are overpriced.
I have always found their running and other workout clothes meh and overpriced.
I kinda cannot stand Phil Knight, although I kinda idolize Bowerman and Pre.
I don't like the changes they have made to Chucks.
Yet yesterday I bought two Nike tanks to wear when I lift.
Why?
Because sometimes you sacrifice everything when you stand for something.

(8,929 posts)well are New Balance. But I will start looking for other things Nike, and buy Nike shoes for my granddaughter, because you posted this thought. So thanks for bringing it up.

(26,137 posts)And, just wear t-shirt to lift, so the tanks will be more comfortable.
I like NB and Topo for the shoes.

(37,648 posts)They run narrow, and the ones I had and started wearing at same time as Asics shoe, but wore the Nike much much less...the Nike pair started falling apart.
I did buy another pair later, on a good sale, because they're a color I was having trouble finding, and I wasn't going to wear them often.
But I could do with a Nike top or cap. I'm going to look for one!

(1,296 posts)As someone recently said, Nike featuring Kap is not an effort to help the good guys win, it is a a profit-driven calculation that the good guys have already won.

What computer or phone are you using right now?
Furniture?
Produce? Coffee? Chocolate?
Gas!
Things are problematic, and we need to make them better, but Nike is fair from alone in this, and we all consume and use things make by sweat shop workers and migrant workers.

(37,648 posts)Even if we don't wear or use something from a sweat shop, odds are that parts or materials other things are made of, may come from sweat shops.
We can't do all kinds of research before buying or consuming anything. And that wouldn't tell us the whole story, anyway.
It's always risky for a company to do anything remotely political. I don't know that that's why Nike did the Kap ad, but they surely knew some would think it's political. But it was a good move, it helps Kap and his cause and his right to protest, and so it helps all of us.

Everyone always discounts the power of advertising, but time and time again, it's proven that advertising works, even on people who hate advertising and hate child labor.

I'm just saying that Nike is FAR better than average at marketing. When I say they are marketing genius I mean it.
Whatever they paid for that ad, was probably the single best ad purchase they have made in years.
But in the end. It just an ad to make us buy shoes. It didn't get Colin re-hired. No cops will stop beating people. Trump voters will still vote Trump and Trump will still be Trump.
It didn't do any of those things. But it did sell a hella lot of shoes.

(32,093 posts)I'll stick to Ryka shoes, since they fit me much better (they are made specifically for women's feet), and they make studio shoes that are good for activities like Zumba. But, I might have to pick up a Nike t-shirt, or maybe some socks.

(28,845 posts)$50 on sale for $39.
About four pairs of sweats for the sale amount on sweats at a discount store.
Exact same fiber content, pockets and sizes.
But they have the swoosh and Nike all over them.
And thats the message.
PS. New Balance shoes for him however.
Nike too narrow. I think I see a trend.
