What if we recruit liberals in populous states to move to low population red states?

What if we recruited liberals from Mass., NY, and CA to move to states like Wyoming, the Dakotas, Idaho, etc. to move to these states and flip them blue? Wouldn't that solve all our problems?

A very livable blue patch in an otherwise deep red state. Far more progressive than, say, Riverside County. Mayor Bieter is a lifelong Democrat. Obama carried Boise city twice as did HRC, although Ada County as a whole tips Republican. Even conservatives here tend be be libertarian live-and-let-live types, and not beer gut crazies. Aside from that. the notion of relocation for the purpose of shifting political demographics is ill-advised and bound to fail. Winning people over on the basis of critical issues, as is happening with independent women at the moment, makes far more sense.

I hail originally from Long Beach CA. Been here 13 years with prior stops along the way in Oregon and Maryland. I'd say the vibe here is interior Northwest with a Rocky Mountain element as well. Have enjoyed Disneyland many times, but prefer outdoor activities in a natural setting. Weather is high desert, low humidity, mostly sunny days with distinct seasons. About 20" total of snow per year in town with skiing minutes away. The dry climate is a plus, making seasonal temperature extremes more tolerable. Don't have the coastline here of course, but there is a white water park on the river that recently added a wave simulator (and sandy beach) for those seeking out a surfing vibe. Culture-wise there is an active arts, music, and food scene. Did I forget beer? Portland and Seattle have a major competitor in that department. The annual spring Treefort festival draws 100's of artists from around the country. The population is becoming more diverse and if someone arrived here hoping to find themselves in a lily-white conservative Mecca they could be in for a big disappointment. It's no secret that the state as a whole has a long way to go. There are liberal enclaves in places like Ketchum, Moscow, Hailey, and the college end of Pocatello. South and east Idaho is as LDS as most of Utah. Not to knock anyone's religious preference, as they are for the most part decent people, albeit providing a solid 35% vote bloc for the GOP statewide, a steep hill to climb for any Dem in a statewide race.

From everywhere, actually, but Cal especially. I believe many are looking for a more conservative place, so they aren't shifting the balance Leftward for the most part.

When my family first came here, Idaho had Dem. Senator Frank Church and Gov. Cecil Andrus. We've been in red state hell since Steve Symms defeated Church. Boise and the other university towns along with Sun Valley have been the only blue/purple spots on the map for decades.

One bright spot this year is the candidacy of Paulette Jordan. If elected, she will be the first Native American governor. The odds are against her, but she has attracted a lot of attention here and nationwide and I believe she'll finish strong.

Arkansas has very mild winters. From watching national weather reports, it is not particularly hotter here in the summer - it's just that the summers last longer. Besides, you can always retreat inside with the air conditioning.

Little Rock is a blue enclave so you won't stick out.

I have seen successful businesses torn to shreds due to fights among the kids. A covenant can set things like buyout/consolidation rules, so that if kids don't agree, there are rules for how they resolve that as far as company ownership and operation goes. Maybe you have decided that you and your wife don't need one, but I tell you, I have not seen that yet.

by statute at 435 in 1913, and capped at that number in 1923. Attempts at reapportionment or increasing the total number of districts and representatives have not been successful, and the result is that some congresscritters represent more citizens than others do.

Sep 2018

What do you mean by recruit?
My price would be maybe 750k /yr and contract of < or total of 3 yrs * covering 1 election cycle and 1 midterm only
and not until kids are out of high school would I be available , then use some of the money to send them to a nice university (not nearby ) or to do whatever on thier own, and visit them and friends family etc so I'd have to be by an airport and live security needs are paid for by recruiter

Not taking family there even at 750k a yr and I probably only need to be there a % of the year to vote in those states so price includes maybe keeping another location to get away from wingers and freezing cold as frequently as voting law allows, hmmm so maybe it needs to be a higher price to recruit me to Wyoming or other states mentioned.
I would really have to think about 750 now that I think about it even a little

My thought is some liberals that move there would become republican eventually too or thier young children have a high probability of ending up RW

*Contract would include not being forced to live around rich assholes house district area also...

The average annual income of the wealthiest one percent of the residents of Teton County, Wyoming — a group that includes Dick Cheney and Wal-Mart heiress Christy Walton — is more than $28 million.

The county's top-earning residents, on average, earn more than those of any other county in the U.S. The top-earning residents of New York, No. 2 on the list, earn more than two-thirds less.

I live in Amazonia, fka Seattle, and frankly, I don't know why all the people moving here even want to be here. With the urban blight that's been created (empty storefronts, only one bookstore that sells new books, even fewer coffee shops than there used to be....), the tech workforce which, to their credit, tends to vote blue, could be anywhere. They may as well be in Laramie or Nashville or Boise as here, and they could make the government far more reflective of the population.

Heck, I was in Detroit over the weekend, and it was devastating to come back here. I'm older now, but given the right circumstances, I'd move to Detroit in a heartbeat.

I live in the Chicago area, one mile from the state line. I grew up here and always liked Indiana better, even though it is more conservative. Northwest Indiana is less conservative than the rest of the state. I really like it over there, the houses are cheaper and the food is good. I like the people and their sense of humor. I'm always trying to convince people to think about moving down to Indiana, you can be a half an hour from downtown Chicago and live in a big house for next to nothing. Everything is cheaper. You're closer to the beach than you are in the Chicago suburbs. If we can get enough people to move to northern Indiana maybe we can grow our economy and turn Indiana blue.

Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. Very visible. At least they are here at 7,000 feet and with consistently clear skies.

I hate humidity, so I won't voluntarily move to any state in the deep south, or most of the midwest. Snow and winter doesn't scare me at all. But the kind of heat they get in southern Arizona, no thank you. I have lived in both Phoenix and Tucson at different times, and I would never voluntarily return.

So where are you planning to relocate to?
