for 45 years and have seen some unusual phenomena, such as a coronal aurora, a green flash, a Leonid meteor storm, the end of a rainbow (yes, you can if the conditions are right) but I've never seen even one Perseid. A couple of sporadics, but never a Perseid. My spouse saw them once from a 10,000 ft mountain, though.
