U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow has a double-digit lead over Republican opponent John James in her re-election bid, according to a new poll released Monday.

The Sept. 5-7 poll, conducted for The Detroit News and WDIV-TV by the Glengariff Group, has a margin of error of plus-minus 4 percentage points.

I wonder how much money James has--I haven't seen one ad for him, either by his campaign or PACs like Americans for Prosperity. It's looking good, but we'll still keep working hard.

2. Good luck with that, lol. He's universally unliked here. The only reason he won the primary

is because Calley, the Lt. Governor, is covered in Rick "The Dictator" Snyder stank. Plus, he's vowing to eliminate the ACA expanded Medicaid in Michigan. That's gone over like a lead balloon.

Especially in states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Those states were "won" on razor thin margins. The main problem for Dems were those who stayed home and those who voted 3d party. Remember, almost always when Repubs win there are historic low turnout numbers. The other big problems, of course, were jerrymandering and voter suppression.

But people are getting the message. Penn fell to a court order and has been redistricted. There are several other states where that could happen.

Looking at the races over the last year or so, special and primaries, Dems are seeing about a 10-15% bump over the 2016 margins.

There's a lot to work for, but we have a ton of good Dem candidates of very diverse backgrounds and messages.

All politics is local, and there is only so much that can be attained through dumping tons of national dollars on a Congressional race.

I still feel good about our chances.

5. That's so true! Turnout is very important. But it's really hard to make that happen...

That's so true! Turnout is very important. But it's really hard to make that happen when we have very LOUD voices proclaiming that the Democratic Party is "corrupt" and "ideologically bankrupt" and that Democrats are "feeble". The outright lie that the Democratic Party is "the party of the one-percent" really does tarnish our brand. It's divisive and it's just a variation on the old Nader and Sarandon chants about "both parties are the same" (ugh! sickening!)

It's like we're fighting a war on two fronts... against our enemies AND those who are supposed to be our allies. All I'm trying to say is that things would be a lot easier if we could focus all of our effort on fighting the GOP.
