(10,749 posts)Sure there's a divide.
And it's caused by the other side.
So fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

(1,660 posts)When you're actually TRYING to be an agent of unity and inclusion, there IS no "other side."
When you're President of the UNITED States, dismissing entire groups of people out of hand because they don't agree with or look like you usually ends badly. For you.

(6,150 posts)Unemployment is down.
Wages are up.
The housing market is recovering.
I am not surprised that 50% of the men in the US like DJT. The social aspects of his character do not affect straight white healthy males. For them, it is a personal choice. Like him or don't like him.
Someone who saw better wages under Trump is going to have a reason to like him.
Someone who got a job under Trump is going to have a reason to like him.
Someone like me who can finally refinance because my house is no longer under water - 10 years later - is going to have a reason to like him. (I don't.)
I really, completely get it now. He has benefitted some people financially, and they are going to like that. Of all of the things I hate about Trump, none are financial, and that's all some people care about in a president. They don't care if he's embarrassing, they don't care if he's boorish, misogynistic, racist, incompetent, or any other adjective I can think of. It's the economy.
So, if a Democrat wants to win, s/he has to prove that there won't be a financial impact to someone's bottom line. Like taxes going up. People hate that.
This is going to be a very interesting campaign season.

And we thought Sarah Palin was the Queen of the word salad? This guy makes her look like Shakespeare.
He truly needs a white jacket and a trip to Bellevue.

(3,208 posts)it is almost 2020, this man is going down in history as the person who fought so hard AGAINST doing anything for climate change. Money is all that matters to people like him.
And those employment numbers? They DO NOT count people like my sister and I who have not had paying jobs for many years (both of us lucky enough to be able to take care of our grandkids). And I don't really think the gains in the stock market mean much to most people, and they can drop and fluctuate so I would not be bragging on that.
There is a dividing line:those who care about the planet, and those who only see profit.
