Underwood, a 31-year-old nurse and former adviser in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under then-President Barack Obama, is running against GOP incumbent U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren. The typically Republican district backed President Donald Trump by about 4 percentage points over Clinton in 2016 but is considered among the pivotal battlegrounds in this year’s midterm elections.
