15. I visited the Japanese internment memorial

on Bainbridge Island last weekend. It was a lovely memorial and did a great job of telling the story of the Japanese American citizens rounded up in 1942 and shipped off to an internment camp for the duration of the war.

The last plaque along the trail reads “Let it not happen again.”
