A campaign consultant to Pennsylvania Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner apparently thinks its OK to make fun of transgender people.Ray Zaborney, a consultant recently hired by Wagners campaign to handle media, last Thursday texted a Nike parody ad mocking Caitlyn Jenner to three top Wagner campaign staffers and, accidentally, to a reporter for the news website Billy Penn.
The parody ad, in the style of Nikes Just Do It advertisements, showed a black-and-white photo of Jenner with the text Believe in something. Even if it means cutting your dick off.
The meme was sent in a group text message to Wagner campaign manager Jason High, finance director Jenise Harris, and policy director Shauna Boscaccy, in addition to Billy Penn reporter Max Marin, who had been trying to reach Zaborney about an unrelated matter the previous day.
None of the staffers responded to the group message, according to Billy Penn, but Zaborney sent Marin a private message asking him to forget he sent the meme. Marin responded that the matter was newsworthy, especially since the meme went to high-ranking campaign workers, and he would not forget it.

Theyre trying to rally the troops. Its like the KKK meeting before a lynching. They know the media will outrage-whore anything they send out.
Make no mistake - this is a message to all KKK like-minded bigots who are itching to hang some of them transgenders. Scott Wagner is their man.

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)3. Inevitable "Sorry if you were offended" non-pology in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1
Followed by "taking full responsibility" and "that's not who I am" justifications. Then, after another three hours, we'll get a full blast of why did the Billy Penn reporter pass this on? Is there no honor among journalists? It's all Max Marin's fault that Zaborney got caught playing the fool!

And the coffee boy did it. After a few grand worth of free press, start the next outrage / dogwhistle event.
