Maybe it's just me....

...but Mittwitt picking a whitebread, 1%, austerity snake oil salesman, barely gets a yawn from me. Changes nothing, except now we have to smell the stink of two rectums farting stupidity at the same time, instead of one.

Damn, I hate Republicans.

And the way that DUers respond to the pick has little to do with how Ryan will be received by republican faithful.

You're supposed to capture the hardcore base in the primaries so you can run as a moderate in the general. He's going to spend the entire campaign pandering to the extreme elements of the base and it's going to sink him like it did McCain.

Last time it was the racial gun-nuts they wooed.

Now it's the fiscal hard-liners and Ayn Rand crowd.

I don't think there was anyone he could have chosen to help him with the independents that wouldn't have hurt him with the hardcore wingnuts.

Americans will be finding out what's in store for them if Romney wins. That's a good thing.

Right now no one knows who Paul Ryan is and what his plan will do to us.

The Obama team has already responded:

Now, those not paying attention will get a solid education on the GOP's plans for the economy. I can't WAIT to tell my RW family members on Medicare that this is the guy who scared them a few years ago with the Ryan Budget.

their kids will get to pay. So it will be especially important for mommy and daddy and grandpa and grandma to be nice to their children lest they're left to rot and die

Requiring Adult Children to Pay for Aging Parents

Last Updated: 6/6/2012 1:55:50 PM

Did you know you could be responsible for your parents' unpaid bills? Twenty-nine states currently have laws making adult children responsible for their parents if their parents can't afford to take care of themselves. While these laws are rarely enforced, there has been speculation that states may begin dusting them off as a way to save on Medicaid expenses.

These laws, called filial responsibility laws, obligate adult children to provide necessities like food, clothing, housing, and medical attention for their indigent parents. According to the National Center for Policy Analysis, a conservative research organization, 21 states allow a civil court action to obtain financial support or cost recovery, 12 states impose criminal penalties on children who do not support their parents, and three states allow both civil and criminal actions. (For a list of the states and citations to state statutes, click here. Note that Connecticut's statute has since been repealed.)These laws, called filial responsibility laws, obligate adult children to provide necessities like food, clothing, housing, and medical attention for their indigent parents. are referencing that the medicare voucher plan will cost seniors $6,600 a year more - as a given from? CBO scoring?

I'll keep an eye out and try to find the source of that number.
