<snip>
"No longer welcome on an NFL sideline, Colin Kaepernick turned to social media to make his point on the NFL's opening Sunday.
In a tweet, Kaepernick gave a shout-out to "my brothers," Dolphins teammates Kenny Stills and Albert Watson, who were the only two players in the league to take a knee during the national anthem during Sunday's early games.
"They have not backed down, even when attacked and intimidated," Kaepernick said in the tweet , which was accompanied by a picture of the Dolphins kneeling before their game. "Love is at the root of our resistance."

"While Stills and Watson were kneeling during the anthem, teammate Robert Quinn raised his fist. Niners receiver Marquise Goodwin did the same at San Francisco's game at Minnesota. Jalen Ramsey and linebacker Telvin Smith Jr. of the Jaguars stayed in the locker room while the anthem was played."

No knees, so they can't kneel.
(Just joking around.)

(8,445 posts)Football is no longer the first thing I think of when I hear "dolphins". I watched ALL of the Denver Broncos games for a lot of years. It was the one thing that my husband and I made sure to do together every week, no matter what was going on. Then he voted for trump. We now do practically nothing together. I stopped watching football.
He was pretty sad about it. I don't care.

(25,604 posts)I wondered: How could anyone tell they were kneeling? Was this in the stadium or the aquarium? Did someone read the tweets to them or just hold the phone in front of them? How did they know about kneeling in the first place?

(2,678 posts)Trumpus takes the standing a bit further, of course. Now he wants players standing, at attention with right hand over heart! Maybe next itll be right arm outstretched at an angle. The never ending story. 😧🤢😱

Kenny Stills Carries Colin Kaepernicks Torch by Continuing to Kneel
<snip>
"As the N.F.L. season gets underway, Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback who has not taken a snap in nearly two years, is back at center stage, his presence looming over the league because of Nikes dramatic ad campaign featuring his willingness to sacrifice his career for his political beliefs.
All but a few players have returned to standing or raising fists during the playing of the national anthem, but Kenny Stills, a wide receiver on the Miami Dolphins, continues to kneel and has quietly become the on-field face of the movement Kaepernick started in 2016."

Both of the kneelers today had excellent games. Stills isn't heard from often but he makes lethal big plays.
Wilson seems like a no-nonsense improvement over Jarvis Landry. Wilson catches the same underneath passes but can do more with them, due to burst speed. He's one of the best free agent acquisitions Miami has had in years.

(280 posts)The American flag is a symbol that stands for freedom. The first amendment guarantees the freedom of speech. Exercising our guaranteed freedoms strengthens our commitment to continue to honor those freedoms.
The Right to Peaceful Protest: What the Constitution Says
Just one sentence comprises the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting people the right to various forms of free expression. In addition to freedom of speech, religious expression, and the press, the amendment prohibits Congress from "prohibiting ... the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." After all, dissent in the American colonies was harshly punished by the British monarchy prior to independence, often through violent means.

New details involving Dallas police officer who shot and killed youth pastor
https://www.yahoo.com/gma/details-involving-dallas-police-officer-120242317.html
The Bible says there is no fear in love. Stereotypes, prejudice, bigotry, are fear-based emotions. Fear is nothing to be ashamed of unless you harm others. Overcome fear with courage and action, and be the change that you wish to see in the world. Spread light not darkness, love not hate, truth not lies.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
