Pence defines smarmy. He also defines prevaricator, liar, disingenuous, insincere, and so much more.

He was on Face The Nation with Margaret Brennan, perhaps the smartest, most sober political reporter on TV today. I find her sober, straightforward, and a tough interviewer. She outs her questions out there, looks at the interviewee, and waits for the answer. When they go off, she brings them right back, often speaking over them but never shouting. She always knows her subject matter and won't be swayed. In a relatively quiet way she is yet another Badass Woman.
