The New York TimesThe Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.
Its not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trumps leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.
The dilemma which he does not fully grasp is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.
I would know. I am one of them.

(I think it was Rick Wilson).
It's a funny line, but I am still processing how I feel about this. My first instinct is that it is NOT the proper nor only way to deal with this crisis.

(15,805 posts)Who ever penned this watery bit of self serving drivel are even worse enablers of Trump's continuing desecration of our nation than all those quivering Republicans in Congress who can't muster the courage to do their duty.
Perhaps the author was seeking praise for distracting Trump by giving him a lollipop when he wants to blow up the world. How is any country going to trust the US after reading this heartstopping admission that a silent coup has taken place within the WH? The US president has been reduced to a strutting figurehead, a ridiculous puppet who is controlled by some secret cabal that has quietly overthrown the government, and influenced by his Russian overseers.
