I'm a constituent - I expect it is a lost cause but at least I tried.
I didn't talk about issues or anything partisan. I said I was disturbed by Kavanaugh's behavior during the hearings, in particular his unwillingness to shake Guttenberg's hand. I said refusing to do so said a lot about his character and that I could understand disagreeing with someone but refusing to shake someone's hand was ... unbecoming of someone who would be appointed to the highest court of the land.
I also pretending I wasn't a Democrat - I said I was concerned about the Democrats being furious about this and that it would hurt the Republicans especially in the House and Senate races.
I urged Flake not to confirm him.
That finishes my banging my head against a brick wall for the day.

(1,474 posts)My senators are Cornyn and Cruz. We are both screwed! I called Cornyn and got to talk to a machine. Cruz can't even be left a message as his mailbox is always full. They both know they are screwing over the American People.

(5,022 posts)allows me to select #5 to ask someone in his office question and I always try to choose that. My "question" was to ask if he was going to confirm Kavanaugh. The BS stock answer was that he "hasn't issued a statement" so I said in that case I'd like to urge him not to confirm him and went into my spiel.
Kyl is worthless. He was probably selected to ensure that he voted to confirm.

(7,888 posts)I can not pretend that I am not a Democrat. The Republicans know better. Jeff Flake is just what his name implies, no moral compass and that should be sad for any Mormon.

(82,849 posts)If you have a Republican Senator (my sympathies), consider taking the "full disclosure" angle, and don't the American people deserve to review Judge Kavanaugh's entire record before rewarding him with a lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court? Sen. Grassley and Sen. McConnell have not been exactly punctilious about the methods they've used to further their personal agendas. Isn't it time to rein in this runaway stagecoach?
