Alex Jones makes surprise appearance on Capitol Hill amid social media hearings

Infowars founder Alex Jones showed up on Capitol Hill for Wednesday's back-to-back hearings with executives from Facebook and Twitter.

A livestream from Jones's Twitter account showed him driving through Washington, D.C., on his way to the Senate office building where the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing was scheduled to take place Wednesday morning. He later held an impromptu press conference outside the hearing room.

Jones was joined by fellow conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec, and Chuck Johnson, who sued Twitter for banning him, was seated in the front row of the hearing. The Senate Intelligence hearing will focus on foreign election meddling via Twitter, Facebook and Google’s platforms.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is set to testify by himself before the House Energy and Commerce in the afternoon over alleged anti-conservative bias on his platform.

Jones was previously suspended from Twitter.
