Joe Scarborough ripping Kavanaugh a new one over Kavanaugh refusing to shake Fred Guttenberg's hand, father of murdered Parkland student Jaime Guttenberg.
In addition to refusing to shake his hand, they are also showing the cruel glare Kavanaugh gave Fred Guttenberg. The White House put out the excuse that security intervened, but Joe made it clear that Guttenberg and Kavanaugh had been earlier introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
Mika just didn't want to believe that anyone would act like such an asshole, but seemed to get it at the end.
In addition to everything we already know about Kavanaugh, we know now that he is also a creep.
What is so wrong with the world that someone would act that way toward another person, especially one who suffered such a terrible loss?

After Republicans get to say he apologized.

(10,273 posts)They'd be recommending him for sainthood for being such a good person decent human being etc etc.
To me this just demonstrates what a complete idiot the guy is...In addition to being an outright, self-important ass.

(25,261 posts)Kavanaugh made a grave mistake yesterday by turning his back. It exposed a great big character flaw in him - one that is not becoming of a SCOTUS judge or any judge for that matter.
Joe Scar is right to hammer Kavanaugh on this. This one incident could be the way Kavanaugh is stopped and not confirmed. This incident should be so enraging to the American People that their phone calls to the Senate will cause the Repugs to pull this guys nomination.
In my opinion - Kavanaugh shot himself in the foot and if this incident is indicative of the type of judge this guy will be - he is toast.
The MSM needs to play and re-play the tape of that incident and the American People need to light up the phones of the Repug Senators and call for him being pulled from nomination.

(111,106 posts)What should we take from a "non-handshake" by Kavanaugh? Was he surprised by the guy? Did he feel threatened in any way?
What should we take from this?
It reminds me a bit of the Robert Bork hearings.

(111,106 posts)The most shocking part to me was how defensive he was? Also, after he turned around, after not shaking Mr Guttenberg's hand, he ran into Rod Rosenstein on his immediate left. If we could read lips, it appeared that Mr Rosenstein smiled and said "Good job" to him?
ProfessorPlum
(11,267 posts)I imagine Rosenstein might have been wanting to tell him that he did a "good job" in his hearing - not necessarily for snubbing a shooting victim's father?

(7,768 posts)security was then sent over to harass Fred Guttenberg.
They're suggesting the two men should have breakfast this morning and Kavanaugh should apologize.
They're using words like "black soul" and "black heart".
Scar is kicking Kavanaugh's ass.

(169 posts)Mika and Willie Geist seemed to be defending Kavanaugh..........although Joe mentioned that Sen. Diane Feinstein had introduced Guttenberg.

If you listened to 10 seconds of any of the 1,200 hate radio stations broadcasting in every nook and cranny of our country, you would not be surprised by this
It's who they are. It's who they want America to be. Cruel, soulless, violent, authoritarian, evil, braggadocios, bullying, unrelenting assholishness.
Listen to just 10 seconds, and you will learn that they have NO INTENTION of "working" with the other side. They want us gone from the face of the earth.
If they can use the power of the Justice system to do so, they won't hesitate for a second!

(58,785 posts)who will be given a lifetime appointment to SCOTUS if some scandal doesn't explode around him before then.
Btw, I wouldn't wonder "what's wrong with the world" or claim this is typical Republican behavior. It's not. Those who still identify Republican typically have good, smiling public manners and wait to spread swiftboat-level lies among themselves.
THIS is Kavanaugh seemingly slipping in public when he's tired.
I'd really like to know what kept him off the first two lists the Heritage Foundation prepared for Trump. His slimy background is the obvious answer. But could he possibly be too intractably rigid or unreliable for the Koch types?

(11,885 posts)With Kavanaugh showing he's really a liar and compromised also. That's why they picked him ,and why they're hiding a lot of things on him now. He'll be exposed hopefully before getting installed. Even that may be short lived . He's not what he claims to be.

(11,574 posts)As the saying goes, when people show you who they are, believe them the first time. We are seeing a small sliver of Kavanaugh's deep awfulness. Wait until he's on the Supreme Court. He won't fail to horrify.

(15,949 posts)So, he doesn't have a reason to show compassion.
As long as it doesn't concern him or his immediate family "He just doesn't care" It's who they are.

(1,089 posts)This asshole could've left the hearing room, gone to that young girl's grave and spit on it and he would've been praised to the heavens by the MAGATs.
That's how sick this country has become while being run by the worst among us all, and having those scum worshiped by millions of those same deplorables. HRC was absolutely spot-freaking-on when she used that term. That's what they are and they are in control.

(8,203 posts)Feinstein earlier, would he (he Guttenberg) attempt to shake his hand - was Guttenberg introduced by name only? - I'm confused...this is all madness -
Joe made it clear that Guttenberg and Kavanaugh had been earlier introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

(8,203 posts)I surely am not someone to muddy the waters...but, and then, the SS questioned Guttenberg...WTH - surely they knew who he was....
I heart Guttenberg.....

(8,926 posts)So it is completely clear that Kavanaugh refused Mr. Guttenberg's hand, and then turned away. So what Joe Scar reportedly said (I didn't watch Joe Scar) does not make sense to me.

(64 posts)approach the candidate as he ends his questioning? Also, if they had already been introduced, why did Guttenberg want to shake his hand? Obviously not to congratulate him, by Kavanaugh's reaction.

(627 posts)I read about there being an earlier introduction by Feinstein but I'm not sure if it was of Guttenberg to Kavenaugh personally. But what I heard that Guttenberg said to Kavenaugh as he put his hand out is that his daughter was Jaime Guttenberg who was one of the students killed in Parkland, Florida. If that's what he said to Kavenaugh, Kavenaugh obviously knew who Mr. Gutenberg was when he turned away. Kavenaugh is a heartless very creepy cold person.
