Pure supply side economics a cruel bad idea - what are some others throughout history?

Paul Ryan is a proponent of pure supply side economics. Even further huge tax cuts for the ultra rich. Huge cuts in the safety net. It's failed policy. Here's some other bad ideas that have long since been discredited. Hoping my fellow DUers can add a few more good ones.

If man were meant to fly he'd have wings!
Women are too emotional to handle the vote!
The only way to handle the red menace is to nuke the Soviet Union and China!
The internet will never replace daily newspapers!
